I'm not the purveyor of good news at the moment. I'm having a bit of time away from work for now because my beautiful cousin Marissa passed away last night. She was such a powerhouse, funny, kind, loud! Always had time for everyone, looked after me through the hardest and darkest times in my life even though she had so much going on herself. When my dad died she got in her car, drove right across London to pick me up and then drove me all the way down to Dorset so I could say goodbye to him. It was a huge trip. She then turned round and went straight back home because she was working the next day. I last saw her 3 weeks ago and despite being very poorly, she'd booked an Airbnb for my wedding and bought wallpaper to redecorate her lounge. She was so positive, she had a lot more life to live and I'm utterly heartbroken. I don't think I know how to do adulting without her. I can't believe I now have to.

I've had a fantastic week catching up with friends who do not work in tech or the media. The closest I got to talking about work yesterday was breaking the sad news that I am not doing Strictly 😂

Imagine if there was a modestly funded and rigorously fact based lobby group in the UK which corrected the deluge of nonsense anti EV and renewables stories the old press churn out every minute. Would you consider supporting such a venture?

look, hydrogen has a massive role to play in decarbonising, starting with itself. Many industries will need it. But using it for heating is genuinely crazy. And consumers are being asked to pay for it. If it made any sense, it wouldn’t need 120 lobbyists in UK parliament alone

Producing green hydrogen in the Uk will use 6x more electricity than heat pumps. If they mean blue hydrogen, it’s made from gas and costs loads more than gas. Actual science. Btw- 97% of the worlds hydrogen is currently grey - trashing the climate. Maybe they should sort that

I happened to be in New York this week for a conference on the energy transition. It was amazing how few speakers mentioned the elephant in the room… (and yes, the smoke is everywhere - even in air conditioned conference rooms). And yes, it’s that bad. Your throat hurts.
