@pearse_margie The engagement strategy of displaying it a few days before teaching generates curiosity. I did this often in my classroom. Once kids start to wonder the brain searches for understanding and THEN the learning begins! Love the idea for a math class.

@TeachesMark You know Mark,after 40 yrs of being an 8th grade teacher & with the truths you shared I still loved my job. I got through the most difficult times because of support staff like you. Reconsider being a teacher Mark,if after being an aide you could not say you love your job.

I absolutely dread the “do you love your job” question but this would very easily sum up my response. I know I’m not the only one.

Another suggestion for student engagement is to create a shared google doc. Students can add to it much like how we are in this twitter chat. We’ve also used things like a private twitter for schools. Students loved it but idk what it was called. #CrazyPLN

My classroom has room for 4 front row seats. 3 boys have accommodations to sit in front row. None of them can sit next to each other, per parents request. Reasons teachers quit.

This is the ONLY year my senior daughter and freshman son will be in high school together. ❤️ My favorite part so far…when he CHEERS at her varsity volleyball games. 🏐 He’s the LOUDEST student out there! As one parent put it, Will is comfortable in his freshman role. 😂

@KellyGToGo I retired after 40 years of teaching and will swear by the growth of my 8th graders as readers and writers when I started AoWs about 8-9 years ago. SWEAR by it!!! Thank you Kelly!!!

My 14-year-old son is in the hospital with pneumonia. 😞 He’s missing his Summer musical he’s worked so hard on the past six weeks. This is the video message from his castmates that the director sent him. “Get well soon, Will!” Made him smile. Melts my heart. ❤️
