Just read a one star review of book 4 in a series that stated, and I’m paraphrasing,“I didn’t read the first 3 books so a I was confused” 🙄
I mean, one star to your heart’s content, but at least do it for valid reasons

My little introverted heart doesn’t have the bandwidth for another SM platform. Been lurking on 🧵 and I love my bookish IG. But this is where I made some of my most important #WritingCommunity connections…

@CYIReadBooks @StMartinsPress @AtriaBooks I’ve only read one of his…can’t remember the title, but I do remember it was a solid read

Bookmail! Parent's Weekend releases 5/6; I Would Die for You releases 3/25, and The Last Session releases 4/1. I LOVE Alex Finlay and Sandie Jones. Julia Bartz is okay. All of these are in the Mystery & Thriller genre. Thanks to @StMartinsPress and @AtriaBooks

2024 has been, by a long, long way, the least creatively productive and fulfilling year of my life.
And I include times of severe, long-term illness and 1st year of uni in that!
I’m trying to be gentle with myself, and forgiving, and so forth, but it’s hard to quell that fiery, disappointed rage that consumes me when I reflect on what I’ve done (or not done) this year.
Being a creative can be the most rewarding endeavour of our lives, but it can also come at an extreme cost and I think I’m paying that cost in 2024.
As I fight back to push the darkness of my thoughts aside, I fear that punish myself even more because often to remove the cancerous parts of your consciousness, you have to risk damaging the most fragile and beautiful parts of your mind and creativity.
I suspect this will need to be a delicate process but I hope I can somehow claw back that aspect of me that for so long brought hope, deep and unyielding joy, and made me a better and more rounded person with a greater affinity for the world around me, and who showed far more love to myself than I have recently.

@butterflydamage I thought I hated it, but when I read The Quiet Tenant, the story and prose blew me away so much it didn’t even bother me…it kind of grew on me? If it works, it works 🩷
