I love late night snacking (first order desire) but don’t want to love late night snacking (2nd order desire) so I just threw away all of my naughty snacks from my cupboard and blocked the delivery app that delivers it to me. Problem sorted!

This present an interesting philosophical puzzle: who is the “real you”— your first order desire or your second order desire? If there is no such thing as a real you (as I argue), then how to know which is the *best* you? By what metric?
