£20 MILLION FOR HUCKNALL! 💷💷💷 I'm thrilled to announce that I have secured £20 million of long-term investment for Hucknall, as part of the Labour Government’s Pride in Place funding programme. We have a real opportunity to ensure that this funding is FOR the community BY the community - local residents and community organisations will have the chance to sit on a local Neighbourhood Board to help shape how this funding is spent. ℹ️ To find out more, sign up to my ‘Hucknall Voices for the Future’ event on Saturday the 11th of April by emailing me at michelle.welsh.mp@parliament.uk 📧

I'm pleased to have secured £9,033,000 for flood defences in Sherwood Forest 💧 Flooding has caused real worry and disruption for families and businesses across this constituency, and so strengthening our local defences is absolutely essential. I have secured 👇 💷 £8,969,000 for Lowdham 💷 £40,000 for Hucknall 💷 £24,000 for Oxton

BREAKING NEWS: Calverton Leisure Centre is SAVED 🎉 Subject to Cabinet approval next week, listening to residents, working with the Parish Council, and pushing for action has saved the centre from closure 💪 This space is more than just a building - it’s where families stay active and our young people grow in confidence. Thank you to everyone who spoke up and refused to let it close.

I had the honour of being re-elected as Chair of the All Party Parliamentary Group on Maternity today at the AGM. Following the AGM, I held a meeting about safer staffing levels in maternity services. This is an issue I care deeply about - not just as an MP, but as someone who knows how critical safe, well-staffed maternity care is for positive outcomes for women, babies and families. We had a constructive and honest discussion about the challenges staff are facing, and the changes needed to ensure every woman receives safe, compassionate care at every stage of pregnancy and beyond. Thank you to our Secretariat @MidwivesRCM and all those who attended and spoke so openly today. It really is a privilege to be able to continue working together to build on our work over the past year.

📢 𝐓𝐑𝐈𝐏 𝐓𝐎 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐇𝐎𝐔𝐒𝐄𝐒 𝐎𝐅 𝐏𝐀𝐑𝐋𝐈𝐀𝐌𝐄𝐍𝐓 🚌 My office has arranged a tour of Parliament to give local people the opportunity to visit the Palace of Westminster. The visit will involve a same-day round trip via coach to London from Ollerton. It is open to anyone living in Sherwood Forest constituency. ❓ You can find out which constituency you are in here: members.parliament.uk/FindYourMP The trip will include a Q&A with myself as your MP, an opportunity to visit the Houses of Parliament gift shop, as well as a guided tour of the House of Commons and the House of Lords (business permitting). 📅 We have booked the visit for Friday 24th April 2026, and tickets will be £20 per person which covers travel costs (plus a small Eventbrite booking fee). The coach will leave early in the morning and arrive back in Ollerton the same evening. If for any reason you feel that you cannot afford the trip but would like to attend, please do let us know and we will do what we can to help. 📝 If you would be interested in joining the trip, please fill out this form to express your interest: forms.gle/Sr5Z1azZFHiYbZ… ⬅️ There are 30 places on the coach. 30 constituents will be randomly selected and contacted to book a ticket. ℹ️ NOTE – your place is only confirmed once payment has been received, and my office has emailed you to confirm you have a ticket. Expressing an interest does not guarantee your place on the trip. Priority will be given to those constituents who have not been on one of the previous visits to Parliament.

Rural communities deserve better public transport 🚍 In Farnsfield at the weekend, I met Oliver Asher, a constituent who mapped out the decline in Nottinghamshire’s bus services in our rural areas since 2014. Public transport isn’t a luxury, it’s a lifeline. My speech during this morning's debate on growth in the East Midlands 👇

➡️I have written to the Chancellor again to push for investment in Hucknall, Linby and Papplewick. ➡️I’ve heard directly from so many residents about how much this is needed—people who feel our town has been overlooked for far too long. That’s why this isn’t a one-off. I have been consistently pushing this—through meetings, conversations with ministers, and ongoing work with Downing Street and the Chancellor to make sure Hucknall is heard. Because this matters. It’s about real people, real lives, and real opportunities. ❗️For too long, Hucknall has been underfunded and left behind. I won’t accept that—and I won’t stop fighting to change it. This investment is about giving our community the opportunities it deserves, and making sure the next generation can succeed, no matter their background. 💪❤️I will keep pushing, keep challenging, and keep fighting—for Hucknall, and for the people who call it home.

I recently met with the Byron Patient Care Network in Hucknall who shared with me the pressures that primary care providers are under. This evening, I asked the Minister of State at the Department of Health and Social Care what the Government is doing to improve access to GP services in Sherwood Forest ⬇️

March is Endometriosis Month. The average time to receive a diagnosis is 9 years and 4 months. That delay in diagnosis is not just frustrating - it reflects wider inequalities in how women are listened to and treated in healthcare. Tackling health inequalities is a priority for me. I will continue pushing for better understanding, faster diagnosis, and fairer access to support. 🌐 For support: endometriosis-uk.org/get-support @EndometriosisUK

Lovely to be in Farnsfield today to host a community coffee morning for local residents ☕ It was great to meet so many of you to hear about the issues that matter locally, and to discuss everything from transport to biodiversity. Thank you to everyone who came along for the conversations and the warm welcome.

@MichelleWelshMP @BellaSankey Then ask them about what action they are taking, although it seems pretty clear to me - they are going to ditch it, as they have stated. In reality their manifesto is two yrs old I imagine they are going to amend it soon enough. So maybe just wait and see or chat to them.

The Green Party's anti-C-section policy is dangerous. It’s deeply irresponsible to continue advocating for this ideology and demonstrates just how little the Greens understand maternity care. Rather than judging women for how they give birth, this Labour government is focused on making maternity care safer for every mother and baby. 📰 Read the full article here: independent.co.uk/news/uk/politi…

@MichelleWelshMP @BellaSankey ‘The Green Party plans to ditch its previous policy promoting “normal” births and seeking to reduce the rate of Caesarean sections, the New Statesman can reveal. A source confirmed that the party understands it is “way out of tune” with safe, evidence-based maternity care’

It was a real pleasure to cut the ribbon today at the launch of the new location of the Social Supermarket in Rainworth 🎀🛒 This fantastic initiative is a donation-based, low-cost food club that is open to everyone - no eligibility requirements and no means testing. It’s a brilliant example of how communities can come together to make good food more accessible while supporting one another. A huge thank you and well done to the incredible volunteers who give their time and energy to keep the Social Supermarket running. Your dedication and kindness make a real difference to so many people in our community. Wishing the team every success in their new home! 💕 ℹ️ Find out more about The Social Supermarket: socialactionhub.com/copy-of-forest…

Great to meet with @CWUnews Midlands Political Network representatives Steve Blower, David Warwick, Mark Alfrey and Mark Harper at my Ollerton Hub to discuss the challenges facing our postal service 📮✉️ We talked about concerns around asset stripping, maintaining quality of service, and the ongoing pressures around resourcing, recruitment and retention. This is an issue close to home for me - my dad was a postie, so I know first-hand how dedicated postal workers are and how vital the service is to our communities. I’ll continue to apply pressure on Royal Mail and keep working with the CWU to make sure the voices of postal workers here in Sherwood Forest are heard.

This week I wrote to the Leader of Gedling Borough Council and CEO Mike Hill about the proposed closure of Calverton Leisure Centre. I have invited them to meet me along with members of Calverton Parish Council and local residents, so they can hear first-hand why accessible local leisure facilities matter so much to the the community 👇
