Which is why this is a great idea. It doesn’t water down the regular season at all, but instead makes even more regular season games meaningful. College football remains the most exclusive playoff in all American team sports with this format.

If the CFP had been 24 teams instead of 12 the last two years: • 24 extra bids • 23 unique teams added • BYU the only repeat • SEC + Big 12 benefit most Expansion = access. Not necessarily parity.
