I’m all for the commodification of your passion but this just feels so soulless. What makes minecraft different is that it requires love. Sure there are servers just raking in cash but the people who built the maps, the code, the models, did it because they love this shit.

Over the past few months, there have been an increasingly large amount of videos on P2W Minecraft servers being uploaded, even more than there has been over the last few years. And, they all paint a bad picture. But, no one ever sees or hears about the other side - until now. I'm going to publish a video soon from a different perspective - and, if any server owners, developers, admins or creators want to help with information, etc - hmu :)

@AdonisHytopian Wouldn’t every Minecraft server owner rather pay a couple bucks a month than a 50% platform fee though? Minecraft server owners keep ~90% of every sale right now, seems like a tough sell to get them to move to a new game when it’s NFT-based and they get a smaller cut

HYTOPIA is taking a page out of Roblox's playbook in full copy-cat style! Moving forward, HYTOPIA will take over server hosting & infrastructure for all games on their platform. This eliminates the need for individual projects to figure out server hosting as they scale and sidestep the hefty server fees typically seen on Minecraft. First-party sales will incur a fee instead: For example, when MrBeast releases a cosmetic item for 1,000 $TOPIA, 50% of the amount will go to him as the creator. If he owns Worlds, he not only gains more options for content but also the ability to reduce this fee to 30%. Roblox's success demonstrates the scalability of this model. The aim is to eliminate all friction and onboard all Minecraft creators.⛏️

@TheMisterEpicYT How could they possibly be shutting down other voting sites? They have no control over them It launched months ago and has gradually been getting more support from Mojang since. Just because it doesn’t have the better SEO or a browser integration now, doesn’t mean it never will

I'll elaborate, my point was that most people don't actually "browse" voting websites. They visit the top search results, and join 1 of the first 5-10 servers, paying to be listed at the top of these sites. That's why these websites can charge $20k a month for the top slot.
