@rayofoghlu Im not accepting it but he is perfectly within rights in the terms of the current regulations. This is why the rigid closed periods are so insane. A system like the blight warning would be much more practical than fixed periods. Let weather/ ground conditions dictate spreading.

@Micon1012 I think at some level thats fair. Farmings a difficult profession, and theres grey areas everywhere. Its just mad to me when people whose livelihoods depend on things like derogation, but also public perception, accept this poor practise.

This has nothing to do with nutrient or grassland management. It has everything to do with too many cattle/not enough storage, so the day the day the closed period ends (yesterday) the slurry gets "spread". Every year.

@rayofoghlu But is anything ever going to be good enough in the eyes of the environmentalist? The farmer observed the closed period and spread with good regard for the buffer zone. Every time we as farmers meet criteria green lobbyists want the goalposts moved again. Its unsustainable.

@rayofoghlu If he has too much cattle he's in derogation then if he's there or near it he should be using LESS
