RF testing of orthomode transducers (OMTs) presents a unique challenge because the common-mode port supports two orthogonal modes, while vector network analyzers use single-mode test ports. For a more detailed explanation of OMT testing, read our blog: lnkd.in/g7HaGpPV

By combining a resonant tunneling diode (RTD), a photomixed dual-wavelength Brillouin laser, and our low-loss waveguide circulator, the IMRA team demonstrated more than 40 dB of gain at 260 GHz. For details on this breakthrough, read the full article here: lnkd.in/g5PHVw3h

We have successfully developed an advanced line of commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) orthomode transducers, isolators, attenuators, and hybrid circulators, many of which can operate well into the THz regime. Find a list of our global distributors here: lnkd.in/g8ezBR8a

Did you know that Faraday rotation isolators designed for room temperature operation do NOT work well at cryogenic temperatures? Fortunately, we have developed an entire line of cryo isolators from 26.5 GHz – 220 GHz (WR 28- WR 5.1) that work optimally all the way down to 1 K.

Our lineup of #mmWave Orthomode Transducers (OMTs) continues to expand. This time, the thrust to develop an OMT that would operate optimally within the 260-400 GHz range came directly from NASA, which funded a small business innovative research (SBIR) grant. #OMT #rfengineering

Preparing for the 6G era: The full potential of 5G still has not been realized, but researchers are increasingly looking to tackle the upcoming challenges in 6G, especially around the backhaul network that links cell sites together. We’re ready for the future. Are you? #mmWave

A cryogenic W-band circulator for quantum research. We already had a hybrid W-band circulator, but cryogenic operation introduces different material and magnetic-bias constraints. Learn more about cryogenic MMW components here: lnkd.in/gJxsQGXh #mmWave #rfengineering

Characterizing OMTs: Four measurements are central to evaluating orthomode transducer performance: Insertion loss, isolation, cross-polarization, and port reflections. Each of these parameters reflects how effectively an OMT separates and preserves polarization in real systems.

When a customer approached us with multiplier setups that needed isolation in a non-standard WR-9 band spanning 82–125 GHz, we responded by building an isolator specifically for that range. Read the full blog post on “We Reengineer What’s Possible”, here: lnkd.in/ehc-dcGP

Standing waves at mmWave frequencies don’t just create noise; they drain engineering hours and inflate budgets. Our isolators, which were originally developed under a NASA program, suppress reflections at their source and offer the lowest insertion loss in the industry.

The power of testing every unit. This gives engineers absolute confidence in how our components will perform, both in the lab and in the field. Because at MMW and THz frequencies, “close enough” isn’t good enough. #mmWave #MicroHarmonics #rfwngineering #technology #THz

Our OMTs have been proven to greatly increase data throughput at sub-THz frequencies. In a recent demonstration, engineers from VDI and Keysight Technologies achieved a communications milestone with our OMTS by combining two wideband signals into a single channel. #MMWave #OMT
