May 4, 1985: Pat Tanaka is here to challenge NWA World Junior Heavyweight Champion Denny Brown. So, for reasons still unknown 41 years later, he politely shakes hands with Ron Bass, JJ Dillon and Rocky King.

May 4, 1985: In some amazing timing, on syndicated TV we saw Dick Slater return to help Jimmy Valiant in his war against Paul Jones. On WTBS, Dusty Rhodes reveals his new jive-talking gorilla who will help him in his war with The Russians. Magnum TA follows it all by making short work of The Golden Terror.

May 4, 1984: TONIGHT, LYNCHBURG. Speaking for NWA World Television Champion Tully Blanchard is Gary Hart, who speaks no lies. Those folks love themselves some Handsome Jimmy. We also hear from the Boogie Man, Don Kernodle, Ivan Koloff, and the Family Mosca.

@DESTINYARRIVAL1 Yessir. That's how Gary Juster got it into the market. Put Georgia on first, I think followed by the AWA and JCP in that order. The deal the channel would do later with an hour of everyone's news from around the world was incredible.

@MidAtlanticPod 56 had world wide wrestling correct? This channnel I am talking about also had a lot of foreign oriented programs as well.

May 3, 1986: Controversy reigns supreme as World Wide Wrestling comes to an end. It looks as if Ronnie Garvin had won the National Heavyweight Championship from Tully Blanchard. But, prior to the match, it was made clear that Garvin using anything to protect his hand was illegal.

I love not being alone in having such great memories of Tully Blanchard vs Ronnie Garvin. Believe me, as an unabashed fan of both - especially Garvin - I was fine carrying the flag of its awesometicity but it's nice to have help.

@DESTINYARRIVAL1 I could talk about that channel for days. WNVC-56 in Arlington and WNVT-53 in Fairfax (rarely could get that one in). First time I had ever seen a non-PBS public TV station. Them playing the NCAA tourney games from ESPN were wild times.
