Celebrating JCP history/programming. No politics/nonsense. Occasionally exalts Sterling Marlin but its mostly old pro wrestling that helps you feel good again.

July 13, 1985: The American Dream Dusty Rhodes is now the World Television Champion once again. And, guess what WTBS viewership? You're fixin' to see a lot more of him real soon, you understand?

July 13, 1985: A new National Title feud has begun now that Ronnie Garvin is out of the picture (and drawing big money with Jimmy in Montreal against the Rougeaus). It's Black Bart against Terry Taylor. As Bart takes on Gene Ligon, Taylor comes to ringside to check things out.

July 13, 1985: Arn Anderson is one-half of the National Tag Team Champions and is also full of himself after dusting off his opponent. But he's onto bigger and better things - like Dusty Rhodes and Magnum TA.

July 13, 1986: It may not be a proper Great American Bash tour stop - but, it is an outdoor stadium show. And, if you went, I'd love to hear about it. Promoted by WHK-AM and the Cleveland Indians (now Guardians), after the Tribe played the Texas Rangers fans were treated to five matches supplied by Jim Crockett Promotions. As far as the game went, Texas won 5-3 in 10 innings in front of an announced crowd of 31,150. Geno Petralli hit his first career homer off Phil Niekro (who also gave one up to Ruben Sierra). As far as the wrestling went, here are the results from Clawmaster: The Barbarian beat Todd Champion Ronnie Garvin & Sam Houston vs. Arn Anderson & Krusher Khruschev Jimmy Valiant beat Baron Von Raschke The Rock & Roll Express beat Ivan Koloff & Nikita Koloff Don Kernodle beat Black Bart (I believe the clipped image I found at Pro Wrestling Historical Society or something like that.)

July 13, 1985: Making their debut on WTBS are the new NWA World Tag Team Champs The Rock & Roll Express. Funny enough, WTBS and Atlanta has been home to Jim Cornette & The Midnight Express for the past several months. And, wouldn't you know it? Cornette seems not to be impressed.

July 13, 1985: One thing you'll notice about big title matches on JCP television at the time was their boxing-type nature. Prior to the NWA World Tag Team Championship match on World Wide, we go to the locker room where promoter Jim Crockett and top stars Dusty Rhodes and Ric Flair give their thoughts.

July 13, 1985: Before social media, people had to go on nationally televised wrestling shows to update their relationship status. True story. As witnessed here with Dusty Rhodes and his new friend Baby Doll. Who, thus far, is THRILLED with The Dream's courtship approach.

July 13, 1985: Time for both anniversary announcements and a moment with Paul Jones, who can be outsmarted twice - but you won't get away with it. Anyway, for those who love to hear Number One sing the song that's in his heart in the most Paul Jones way possible, this is for you.
