#OnThisDay May 22 1888: Minneapolis architect LeRoy Buffington receives a patent for the "Cloudscraper", an iron-framed office tower. Even though later builders used his idea to create skyscrapers, Buffington was unsuccessful in collecting royalties and became largely forgotten.

Lane Technical High School in Chicago, located at Western Avenue and Addison Street. The massive building project cost approximately $6 million to complete. Opened in September 1934, it was dedicated as the largest high school in the world at that time. The footprint shown in this photo closely matches the school's layout today, though the surrounding area has developed. #ChicagoHistory ☑️
