If you followed the Maryam Sanda trial back in 2017 when it started, you knew already she would evade justice somehow, clemency being the final possibility.
Her mother Maryam Aliyu was a very powerful woman in Abuja — someone who was being investigated for multiple cases of multimillion naira corruption by the ICPC, and was on the verge of being prosecuted in court, only to engineer her presidential nomination to the board of the same ICPC! Had @TheICIR not exposed her, that nomination would not have been withdrawn.
In Nigeria, there’s no justice for the poor. And there’s no justice for the rich who come up against far richer transgressors.
