There’s a pattern with a lot of conferences. Big venues. Big price tags. A LOT of sitting! SANDBOX is an attempt to do something different. No crowds. No corporate feel. No passive listening. Just teachers working together to design solutions to education's biggest problems.

I always think this about teaching Russia (1894-1945) - so much contextual knowledge that pupils need right off the bat. Are there any European/World depth studies that don't require as much of this? USA at A-level is generally OK(ish)... #HistoryTeaching #History

On reflection, teaching the start of Weimar Germany is tough. The period is so rich and requires students to have so much background knowledge external to the struggles within Germany to contextualise it.

Getting a post-lunch fix of cognitive science from @HealJim - ‘if we are going to be better at teaching, we need to start with a foundational understanding of how learning happens’

@d_a_ellison Sounds great. I’ve gone for ‘let’s dress for a day of walking around the sites, but give up after an hour and sit in a bar’ Looking forward to your session at 3pm 🙌🏻

@MiddletonHist Feel less beach, more beach bar with one of those hollowed out coconuts with a cocktail in it. It’s a vibe anyway 😂

Interesting insights from @AndyBurnhamGM on the MBacc and supporting those students that don’t fit the traditional university route of education #EducationFest I would be interested to find out how this works in rural regions with a lack of large corporate partners

Some excellent ideas from Martin Rigby at @TandLRunshaw on how to make CPD more bespoke for staff. Having the system work alongside departments, the appraisal process, and teacher need is excellent. Definitely some food for thought #EducationFest
