If you're new to open water swimming, the thought of swimming a mile or a kilometre is probably pretty daunting! Our seeding event courses are laid out with buoys...so forget the whole distance and just focus on the next buoy.

Happy Heritage Day, swimmers! We are so blessed to have Midmar Dam as part of our country's natural heritage - it is what makes the best weekend of the year possible every February! Our beloved Midmar Dam is currently 95% full.

When doing a training session in the pool, consider wearing a pair of baggies or boardshorts. They will create a bit of resistance in the water, which means you'll have to work harder and therefore get more benefit from the training.

Want to mix up your training a bit? Don't just stick to one stroke...if you're a freestyler, give breaststroke or butterfly a go and you might be surprised at how much fun it adds to your training - you'll also be grateful for the diversity on race day.
