This is one of those plots I thought the writers handled with levity. When shows depict men’s sexual assault as “funny”, it leaves a poor taste. The shapeshifter copies everything from memory to mannerisms, so it was a spitting replica of Starlight. Its powers is literally becoming someone else, so forgive Hughie for not thinking Starlight is not Starlight. Hughie got SA’ed multiple times and Starlight still got pissed at him; the victim… even though he somehow managed to figure it out last minute?? No props to that. She just went “I forgive you”. Yeah, because it’s his fault he got SA’ed by a shapeshifting, memory copying supe. And looking at the message audience got from that story; cue the quoted tweet, it just shows how poorly the writers handled the topic.
