Like many others here’s my two cents in the whole WCS discourse. I do NOT want any name calling of either sides in my comments. I’m not about that It’s a long read with some deeper sociological insights (I hope). I have also tried to research as much as possible.

Thank you for reading this far. I have tried to document and research all non anecdotal evidence. Any information not cited has come to me as I am an Alumni of the WCS and through my Alumni peers. Don’t call any sides slurs or names. It’s not constructive

Finishing thoughts. Again referring back to my original post I’m pretty set in this view. WCS should address this to their community, any rules, regulations and safety tips should be made public to clear up any misunderstandings and alleged 3rd parties needs to back off

Safety concerns and why some may be justified in being worried. Again this is not an attack on the people. Just an observation from the outside of why it might very well feel scary for most to go.

Banning certain individuals? Well no. And yes in a way. Anecdotal record but it still feel valid somehow and relates to popular discourse.

The rules, regulations and safety tips and the issue of them not being public (or at least available to those who ask). sources cannot be credited as WCS themselves (or someone else with a higher say in this) has asked not to have it shared publicly, which also creates mistrust

Soft power and the role it most likely is playing. Again I cannot stress this is high level political stuff and not something the individuals behind the organisation speculate in (I sincerely hope)

Quickly to address some claims this is all a witch hunt of the organiser. Also just a quick reminder, NOT an attack of the people of this country. It’s much larger and out of any layman’s control. It’s on organisational level and UP

@ManonBluts Thank you for this thread. It’s very clearly a “soft power” move (as is the original WCS). It’s not fun nor easy to speak up but it’s important and I feel like you have done it in a very level and proper way ❤️

I don't wanna talk more about Saudi but it's sad to see people being used with the pretext of Saudi being open to new things by hosting WCS. It's propaganda! You were used! it is not a grand amazing groundbreaking move that you went. I am sorry... truly.

@AmenooCosplay I have somehow managed to curate the f out of my feed so I’m spared that hot take. I’d love for them to look up recent news from the area and still claim wearing cosplays in back stage areas makes a difference.
