BREAKING The UK has such a shortage of butchers, bricklayers & welders that the Govt should allow vacancies to be filled by overseas workers. Migration Advisory Cttee (MAC) also says senior care workers & nursing assistants should be added to “shortage occupation list”

Migration From January, new EU migrants will now have to pay £620 per person per year (currently free) - so charge of almost £2,500 a year for a family of 4 on top of other fees and charges. That alone will be a big disincentive to potential migrants

Well this is either an embarrassing slip-up or deliberate misinformation. But articles and tweets have been based on these incorrect but government issued figures. The Home Office/government must do better.

New MAC report puts govt in quandary. It argues that:
- There should *not* be a points-based system attached to the main route for skilled workers
- Instead points-based system could be used for smaller Exceptional Talent route - ie for highly skilled people with no job offer
