BREAKING The UK has such a shortage of butchers, bricklayers & welders that the Govt should allow vacancies to be filled by overseas workers. Migration Advisory Cttee (MAC) also says senior care workers & nursing assistants should be added to “shortage occupation list”

Net migration to the UK from outside the EU has NEVER surpassed the 300,000 mark before 😳 The government needs to get a grip 📈

Encouraging perilous Channel crossings is not "woke," it endangers lives and helps to fund human trafficking gangs. The country as a whole must be united against this.

They said that too few Brits had applied to pick fruit (so workers must be flown in) 🛬 So why does it appear UK applicants are being rejected...? 🤔 #coronavirus

A sensible approach from the CBI to what is no more than a pre-announcement. We need to the details behind the headlines.

🎦 @cbicarolyn on @SkyNews with biz reaction on #Immigration Removing cap on work visas and lowering salary threshold from £30,000 are good steps. But sectors like care, construction, food processing will face challenges. Govt. must work with biz to implement right for day one

Well this is either an embarrassing slip-up or deliberate misinformation. But articles and tweets have been based on these incorrect but government issued figures. The Home Office/government must do better.

This shows the importance of getting the correct figures when debating migration. They are not always to be found in government leaks and briefing.

New MAC report puts govt in quandary. It argues that: - There should *not* be a points-based system attached to the main route for skilled workers - Instead points-based system could be used for smaller Exceptional Talent route - ie for highly skilled people with no job offer
