[WATCH] By achieving his PhD at Fort Hare, Dr Mancotywa joins a lineage of illustrious alumni and scholars who have walked those halls in pursuit of knowledge and social advancement.
These luminaries include Oliver Tambo, Nelson Mandela, Govan Mbeki, Robert Sobukwe, Mangosuthu Buthelezi, Robert Mugabe (former President of Zimbabwe) and many more. Academics such as ZK Matthews and DDT Jabavu also made their mark at Fort Hare. The first black Zimbabwean medical doctor, Ticofa Samuel Parirenyatwa, and the historian, novelist and politician Stanlake Samkange, were also among the many non-South Africans who spent formative Years at Fort Hare.

On 26 November 2024, the mighty EFF filed a case in the Constitutional Court to challenge Parliament’s decision not to proceed with an impeachment inquiry against President Cyril Ramaphosa.
Today, the Constitutional Court ruled that the National Assembly’s decision not to refer the report to an impeachment committee was invalid.
The EFF has been vindicated!
