PSA: Due to exploding amounts of spam, we have to close down DMs here :( Ever since The Takeover, spam has become unbearable. Think 1-2 orders of magnitude more spam than genuine messages. It's a drain of attention and energy, so we'll just turn off DMs entirely.

@CalavErik8 We like to encourage people to try and learn from a challenge (especially since there's still so much low-hanging fruit), but it's going to be tough to meaningfully help without real programming knowledge.

@MikageEmu I have a 3ds and some free time, but know almost nothing about programming/developing. Would I be able to help just by comparing and reporting game behaviour? Should I try?

Thanks to meticulous research by ZeroSkill, Mikage now supports all recent 3DS system versions! 🎉 Previously limited to 9.0.0, we've verified HOME Menu and games work up to 11.8.0 now. That's the last version that shipped on a physical 3DS EU release! 🧵

The good news: There's still other platforms out there. DMs continue to be open over at Mastodon!

@SpectrumCRTS Yup! And interestingly deleting the HOME Menu extdata resolves it (temporarily?). Haven't had a chance to look into it closely

@pi421337 1. Good observation! Games don't include the 3DS system font by default, so Mikage provides a close enough replacement using freely licensed fonts. You can totally install the official one though for an even better experience! 2. Yes

@MikageEmu I have a couple of questions: 1. Why is the font weird on the screenshot? I don't have my original 3DS (only a New 3DS) but I'm pretty sure it wasn't like that. 2. Will the New 3DS software also be supported in the future or is Mikage mainly focused on the original 3DS?

@HenryMoraB1 Knowledge exchange has always been going both-ways, however the license situation (GPL) makes actual code sharing impossible. This is something Azahar would have to change on their end if closer collaboration is desired.

@MikageEmu I always follow mikages progress and love what you are doing but it would be good to have a draft release for testing current state for standard users and would be cool to know if you will collaborate with the azahar 3DS emulator?
