My wife texted me from work:
Her: "Are you watching that new serial killer documentary on Netflix?"
Me: "Yeah, I just started episode 3."
Her: "Pause it at 22 minutes and 14 seconds."
Me: "Okay, paused. It's the crime scene photo of the living room."
Her: "Right. Do you see the blood spatter on the wall near the fireplace?"
Me: "Uh, yeah. It's pretty gruesome."
Her: "Look just to the left of the fireplace mantle. See where the natural light is hitting the wall?"
Me: "Yes..."
Her: "That’s the exact shade of sage green I want for the guest bathroom."

@RossDellenger Why should it be tax exempt? College athletes already get a tax-exempt scholarship.

Mississippi lawmakers kill a bill that would have made college athletes' NIL money tax exempt.

@MattGlassman312 It's my own lessening interest because we're looking at $10 million rosters.
This is no longer college sports.
English

I have had the same sensation/impression, building over last 5 years. I cannot discern degree it is: (1) reg season less compelling; (2) my own lessening interest; (3) media factors; (4) xfer portal changes; (5) conf realignment; (6) a general sports issue; (7) something else.

None of my friends/groupchats have had any March Madness banter yet. The tournament is starting to move towards that Kentucky Derby level where people are excited about the pageantry of the event but there aren’t any stars or storylines.

Now show how much money is made off these athletes....keep paying athletes

@RossDellenger @On3 This would ruin the fabric of the sport
English

An SEC president says the conference might be forced to “go our own way.”
During key meetings in Nashville this week, the league’s executives are set to hold that discussion.

@RossDellenger @On3 So, does this guy think the SEC will still be allowed to play in March Madness? The CWS?

in today's Extra Points, we obtained the FY25 operating budget for (nearly) every public school college baseball program
here's who spent a lot of money and still sucked, how much you need to compete for an at-large bid, who spent what and more:

@MikeBrem @ChrisMurphyCT @ChrisMurphy Tell that to Kelvin Sampson and Willie Fritz.
How much revenue did Sampson bring into Houston last year with a Final Four appearance?
English

@TomGrothJr In other words, you're simply rejecting the data.
On mute you go.
English

@TomGrothJr Here’s the link to the data.

You’re simply incorrect.

@MikeBrem Oh - it is true. NCAA football is generating 100’s of millions of dollars for schools. Historically, they compensate athletes 10% in tuition, room, board, and stipend. Pay players of rev-generating sports >40% and find another funding source for the 20 other sports. Simple.
English

@MikeBrem I gave you the colleges. Look it up yourself. 12 colleges generate $200M per year on football. No matter what your favorite team makes they simply have to find new funding sources for 20 other sports and compensate their rev-generating athletes >40% with unlimited mobility.
English

@MikeBrem @NILnotNLI Texas, A&M, OSE, Georgia, Michigan, Penn State, Alabama, Tennessee, USC, Oklahoma, and Nebraska all have FB revenue of $200M per year.
English

@TomGrothJr Link?
But, again, even if that were true, what about the other 300 school schools?
English

@MikeBrem Texas, A&M, OSU, Georgia, Michigan, Penn State, Alabama, Tennessee, USC, Oklahoma, and Nebraska all have FB revenue of $200M. That is a dozen schools. Pay rev-generating athletes >40% with unlimited mobility. Find another funding source for 20 other sports.
