@penguins Overall great weekend, but the merchandise at the game was a mess. Not enough of the materials people wanted, no control of the store, no anticipation of the demand. Highly disappointing for long time fans.

@scottdetrow Other than keeping score, what's the value of reporting on public polling? It's not measuring the goals or impact of a candidate, just who likes them. Why not report on issues and character and leave the polls to the campaigns?

We can also all try to get back to a world where talking to voters and being out in America - not endlessly taking and modeling and predicting and just repeating what everyone else is saying on social media - is the heart of political journalism.

It will be natural to ask why some of the polls again didn’t have the results just exactly right — but maybe it’s better to acknowledge that “the general area” is the best they can do, to know data isn’t everything, and even to celebrate that human beings remain unpredictable.
