Alabama is an overrated team that got the benefit of the doubt because they beat a bunch of other overrated teams. This outcome should shock no one. The SEC had no business getting 5 teams in this year. None.
If Georgia or Ole Miss don’t win their semifinal matchup the SEC’s only playoff wins in 2 years will be over other SEC teams. The only “SEC” team to win over a non-SEC is a team they stole from the Big 12

@AlwaysCFB You mentioned how the committee didn’t want to set a precedent of penalizing teams that play in a CCG. But when analyzing the CFP era, every team that’s lost a CCG has went down at least one spot in the rankings. So there was precedent, but the committee decided to ignored it.

@awfulannouncing No one is going to watch a show with Paul Finebaum, Stephen A Smith, and Cam Newton for accurate and objective sports takes. On the other hand, people may want to watch them for entertainment purposes!

@TMatich “Bama was ranked ahead of ND last week” why was that? Why did they jump ND in the first place after squeaking by 5-6 Auburn? It was to protect them. Every CCG loser the past decade has dropped in the rankings besides Bama. There’s no reasonable explanation for Bama to be in.

Okay, the committee chose door #2 (below), or at least close to it. It was the right call.
It came down to Alabama, Miami and Notre Dame for two spots.
It was absolutely the right call to rank Miami ahead of ND, because of H2H. If you disagree, you're just flat wrong.
So, Bama vs ND. Bama was ranked ahead of ND last week, and would have stayed there without question if they hadn't played in the SEC champ game vs #3 Georgia. ND"s last game was, um, Stanford, and they didn’t have the risk on championship weekend that Bama did because they didnt play.
Yes, Bama got smoked. But choice #2 below was to honor champ games.
ND had a playoff-worthy season. But there are only 12 spots, and they were first team out. It was the correct call.

We'll find out today what the committee thinks about a choice between two bad options. 1. Reward a team that didn't play in it's conf champ game, at the expense of a team that did play but lost. 2. Don't use a loss in a conf champ game in the ranking process. Both options have a lot to hate. I think we should err on the side of favoring conf champ participants. What do you think?
