@sunderlandafc11 It was a hard tackle but far from what is considered dangerous. Studs down, foot low but poorly timed. Yellow was the correct decision.
Should Everton's Iroegbunam have been sent off?
INCIDENT: Ref John Brooks only reached for a yellow card when Everton's Tim Iroegbunam overstretched and crashed into Sunderland defender Reinildo. Should this have been a red?
DERMOT SAYS: "I think ref John Brooks has got it absolutely right. He's stretching but it's low and he catches him around the back of his calf. He doesn't catch him with his studs. It looks worse because of the way he goes up in the air. I think it's only a yellow card."
JAY BOTHROYD SAYS: "If his studs were up, he'd be in trouble. But again, Reinildo - his reaction is embarrassing. I don't like seeing that kind of reaction from a player. If you're really hurt you're not doing that. He's trying to con the referee into getting the player sent off."
@SAFCWomen Hopefully one and out as she was absolute garbage. Every game I watched her central defensive partner was having to try and cover her mistakes.
🏆 Good luck to Katy Watson and Mary Corbyn at tonight’s @BarclaysWSL2 awards.
Katy has been nominated for Rising Star, while Mary’s superb strike against Bristol City has been shortlisted for Goal of the Season.
In additional, Club official Maurice Wake has been nominated for the Club Hero award 🤞
@SAFCSZN_ Because Alderete would have read the game and not needed to do a last ditch tackle, you can praise 09 but don’t compare him to Alderete he’s 30x the footballer
Alderete isn’t making half of those 50/50s onien won today btw. One of Luke’s best performances in a Sunderland shirt given the circumstances never put a foot wrong for the 70 mins he was on but no one is ready to talk about that. #SAFC
@DavidCo51201869@SAFCSZN_ Sorry David but Luke is a darned wood player who makes very few mistakes. I would take his commitment and desire over Alderete any day of the week. Luke is all about the team and a player's player.
@SAFCSZN_ Please don’t compare him to alderete. One is an elite centre back and the other is a bottom 6 centre back. O nein good today but he needs to be 4th choice centre back next season or 5th
@AcademyOfLight They missed too many opportunities and defended poorly. They should have had it won in the first half so they only have themselves to blame.
Burnley were poor but took their chances more than we did.
@sunderlandafc11 This lad could and should be key to a successful Sunderland. He was touted as a star of the future struggled at times but the culture at Sunderland is enabling him to become the player fans and coaches expected.
Enzo Le Fée says Sunderland fans are seeing “the real Enzo” when he plays through the middle, with the Frenchman making clear how much he enjoys operating in his natural number ten role.

@SunderlandAFC RLB has done an excellent job. I haven't always agreed with his decisions but he works with the guys every day and has done a great job.
@SAFCWomen I was expecting a lot more from Tash this last season. She wasn't the presence I was expecting. However most of that was likely down to dreadful management, coaching and team tactics.
Referee appointment
Sunderland v Man Utd Sat 9th May 3pm
Referee: Stuart Attwell.
Assistants: Constantine Hatzidakis, Nick Greenhalgh.
Fourth official: Dean Whitestone.
VAR: Peter Bankes.

@SnapBlastPLAY A steady start. She is going to need time and we are going to have to be patient. I was an ambassador and a pre-alpha insider for years but became somewhat disillusioned with a lack of real direction at XBox and stepped down. Hopefully Asha can turn it around. Exclusives needed.

@SAFCWomen I hope you have a new manager and coaches to go help you get back to the striker you were before Mel Reay and injuries set you back.
If this team is to progress we need you, Katy W, Katie K and Mary Corbin firing on all cylinders...if we can keep hold of them.
@Philip_RJ89 Dan foolishly grabbed the shirt high up and due to the guy having long hair it became entangled with his hand.
Nothing malicious but it happened and he was punished.
Enzo Le Fée was hammered for his failed panenka.
Habib Diarra was crucified for missing a chance at Villa.
If people think Dan Ballard should escape criticism for that red card today, they must be joking. Argue about the rules and VAR all you like.
@SAFCWomen Mel should have gone 4 seasons back. She has systematically destroyed the club over this period.
I had high hopes for her as a coach but she peaked a long time ago. Time to clear out the coaching staff and move the deadwood. We have a handful of players we should build around.
@RokerReport Hopefully we get something out of it but I fear the worst as we are woefully out of form and haven't looked in good nick for months.
It's still been a good season for the team predicted to go straight back down.
@SAFCWomen Sorry Mel but it has been a dreadful season for the club and the fans. Poor performances, dreadful tactics, horrendous coaching decisions and, in the main, woeful signings.
Only 2 or 3 of the team performed anywhere near the standard expected.
You and your staff need to go.
🎙️ Mel Reay reflects on the season...
"We started the season really strongly. We had a poor block going into the winter break, which was difficult for all of us, but we turned it around going into this year.
"It's been an up-and-down campaign, and it's small margins at this level. We need to use this experience going forward to manage those moments that aren't going our way."
ℹ️ RLB’s team news update:
‘Jocelin should be available this weekend, and we’ll make a decision on Nilson Angulo and Bertrand Traoré. They are in a good place.’
@SAFCWomen Well deserved. I have the utmost respect for these two talented women.
Now get them signed for a few seasons and give them a coach who can help them improve as Mel has held them back.
🏆 Katie Kitching has been named Supporters’ Player of the Season.
Katy Watson was voted both Young Player of the Season and collected the Goal of the Season award for her solo effort against Southampton.
Congratulations, Lasses! 👏
