I guess successfully turning over 12 total players from your roster over the course of two seasons and still being relevant isn’t good enough.

@PredsCards @AdamVingan He serves as an AGM for the Canes but he’s also the GM for their AHL affiliate (Wolves) who are still playing in the Calder Cup playoffs as well.

Dubas is the most EGREGIOUS of course, but also no Tulsky is laughable especially considering the Canes swept the Sens in round 1.
He signed Ehlers, traded for Miller, waiver claimed Bussi and they had 113 points.
Also extending Stankoven and Blake for a 11.1M combined over 8 years.

@dynastytribal I understand people may miss this, but let’s not forget that this era was the absolute worst part of that period of wrestling. The whole McMahon-Helmsley regime was never that interesting and felt super dry by the end of it.

I actually believe this team is better than years past, and I was so beyond wrong about picking the Sens over them, but we need to call it like it is: First, it was how they were different with Guentzel. Then it was how they were different with Stankoven and Hall. Now it’s how they’re different with Ehlers and Miller. They’re always “different.” But the reality is they’re 1-16 in the ECF since winning in 2006. It’s fair to say they look better, but we can’t say they’re truly different until they actually prove it.

@emanningwrites Jankowski’s value isn’t limited to 4C time either, he’s a relied upon penalty killer as well. This about keeping a Swiss Army knife player in the lineup. Other teams would kill for a player like that.

Seeing some discourse, so: are there better 4Cs in the NHL than Jankowski? Of course. Are there better 4Cs in the NHL who would also fit into Rod Brind'Amour's system and be as trusted in key roles? Maybe a couple, but their teams like them and they aren't going anywhere.

Utah finished 15 points back of Carolina and got to play LA, SJS, VAN, CGY, CHI, STL more than Carolina did. Everyone in the east (Sans NYR) was competitive until the trade deadline. The east was clearly stronger, and Utah would have dropped more points in the East.

Think “East was strong, West was bad” in the NHL this year doesn’t include enough context. Quite certain Utah would have won the Pacific with a Pacific schedule. Also fairly certain Utah would have finished within a few points of Carolina in the Metro with a Metro schedule.
