North Carolina FC has informed players that it will not be participating in the 2021 #USL Championship season, sources tell The Athletic. Future TBD. The club (founded as the Carolina RailHawks) had been in the second division of U.S. soccer since the start of the 2007 season.

For those in Raleigh concerned with downtown traffic and how development has impacted traffic from 2003 to 2017, the annual increase in traffic was 0.14%. The decimal is correct. Not even 2 tenths of a %. Fact from a major Planning and Design Engineering consultant in Raleigh.

Second, it depends where in the city limits you live (could be 15+ miles from this site). Third, they plan on providing "missing middle" housing as a part of this for workers. Last, that's not greed...that's the market.

@Wutdafuhk @RyanJabroni @geoflevine @stephenmalik @NorthCarolinaFC With as much money and research has been involved, I doubt they'd attempt to build a stadium that isn't feasible. In terms of the intimacy, I don't agree but I can certainly understand if that's your preference.

It takes me 20min just to leave a friend's apt there to get to 440. Also, the proposed stadium is not feasible for Raleigh at this time. Lastly, I prefer the Courage and the intimacy of the Cary field.

Decline a $2B investment in an under served part of town, lose a replacement for the soon to lost Red Hat Amp. and then what? Just wait another decade (hopefully) for someone to invest fraction of that?

@RyanJabroni @geoflevine @stephenmalik @NorthCarolinaFC In all seriousness I just can't see the long term feasibility of the stadium in DT Raleigh. It would be run down within a decade, terrible for traffic, destroy the courage fan base, use tax $ that are needed elsewhere, etc.

First, stadium developers said they needed no tax money — only state-owned land on Peace Street.
Now, for new concept south of downtown, they want local government to give them $13 million a year for 30 years.
