One of my favorite new fantasy novels has an army of selectively chosen green armored knights that have a chest-sigil and summon green energy swords out of the air. You made something derivative, that then informed the creation of the source material. You copied art from working artists.

@Mikearice I have worked in the industry and I’m telling you this is not common and understood. Using art from living artists in this way is highly frowned upon. Even when it’s done for placeholders, they are not meant to be public

@arvalis The marketplace of ideas, man. You put your fanart out there and it in some way influenced the creation of the very thing you made fanart of, and sometimes you don't -need- direct credit except to stoke your ego. You can double up the transparency and compare the image yourself.
