@Rule3O3 NFL plus has versions of the game about three hours after that is just every single play none of the downtime none of the commercials none of the interviews. I tend to avoid spoilers and just watch these versions.

I can’t be the only one with this experience: Before 2002, I followed pro football, and had the classic American default where if my TV was on Sunday, it was an NFL game. Watched all playoff games, etc. Then I got a DVR, and the magical power to skip commercials. This seemed great news because it meant more of football watching time could go to watching football. But then a strange thing happened. I realized it wasn’t just the ads which needed skipping. There was also a ton of annoying downtime in the game itself. Things moved rapidly from there. By the end of the season I was mostly just fast forwarding until I saw a score change, then going back to watch the drive. Now I’m just watching highlight reels, or rather I’m editing them. Which sucked, so next I switched to just watching the pro cuts on Sportscenter. The following September when regular season play started I went to check ESPN one Sunday night and thought “why the hell do I care about highlights from a game I don’t even watch?” And that was it. That’s how I became a guy who used to watch football. The trip from “I don’t have to watch all of this” to “I’m not gonna watch any of this” took one year.
