Context/Details: January 6, 2023, Texas. In a dramatic turn of events at El Ranchito, a Mexican restaurant in Houston, a customer fatally shot 30-year-old Eric Eugene Washington, a robbery suspect. The incident unfolded at midnight with about ten customers inside the restaurant. Washington, masked and wielding what appeared to be a gun, robbed the patrons of their wallets and phones. As he was leaving, a customer, armed and acting in self-defense, shot him multiple times, resulting in his death at the scene. Houston Police later revealed that the weapon carried by Washington was a plastic pistol, resembling an airsoft gun, and not a real firearm. The customer who shot Washington did not remain at the scene following the incident. This action led to a police investigation, and the case was subsequently referred to a Harris County grand jury to determine if charges should be filed against the diner. Washington's mother, Corine Goodman, expressed her grief and confusion over the incident, particularly questioning the extent of force used by the patron. "I don’t hate him. I can't hate him. But I want to know why didn’t you stop?" she asked. "If you had to kill him, I can deal with that. I can come to grips with that. He did something wrong. I understand that. But for him to be shot four times in the back leaving, and when he falls down, he shoots him four more times? You abused him. He was dead already. And that hurt. That hurts." The diner's attorney stated that his client feared for his life and argued that his actions were justified under Texas law. Woke up this morning thinking about every mother/father/sister/brother/friend who has lost someone to senseless gun violence in America. And then ..there was no justice for their pain. This is a disgrace.

@ZellnerLaw My heart is broken when I see his photo being old from the young man who was wrongfully convicted back in 1985 ( I think that was the year ) the Netflix series Making a Murderer is quite scary. To see how can rigged system put one person away and ruin his life and his family...
