@PoipoleLiker The most cinematic Mario game ever, and they opted to do something completely different and less huge in scope 😭 The sheer aura of Rosalina asking Mario, "are you prepared to travel the CENTER OF THE UNIVERSE?" WOULD HAVE GIVEN ME CHILLS IF THEY ACTUALLY USED THAT CLIMAX.

@Mild_Entropy It's just sad especially when the actual game had so much to work with that could've been amazingly adapted for the movie. The entirety of the final level solos the entire film with the single text of the mission being "The fate of the universe"

Dude I cannot believe I heard this in a movie, with huge theater speakers, and I felt NOTHING for it when it played.

@hcardb Rosalina's theme is sprinkled throughout the soundtrack (just like she's only sprinkled throughout the movie), but it's pretty prominent in the track "You're Coming With Me," and it does appear at the end of "A New World," if you want some specific examples.

@hcardb The second track on the OST, "Super Mario Galaxy," plays only during the scrolling credits, but it's basically just her theme song for 4 minutes. Any time she appears in the movie, we also hear those same six notes, no matter the scene. youtu.be/juc8bzyNSY4?si…

@psych0xdude I've said this before, but it has the wrong title. It should've been "Super Mario 2." Then some of the expectations would have been adjusted. At least I would've known not to hope for a proper Galaxy adaptation, and instead just these characters having an adventure in space.

@Mild_Entropy I liked the movie as a Mario movie but hated it as a Mario galaxy movie if that makes any sense

@PoipoleLiker It really solidifies just how important the script of a movie is, because everyone else was clearly firing on all cylinders with their best effort.

@CynfulEntity Same with Good Egg Galaxy! Not only is it interrupted before it can get to the best part, but it's riddled with fire ball and mushroom sound effects. Truly baffling decision.

@Mild_Entropy Because it plays for three seconds in the movie and the ost version of the credits tragically has obnoxious sound effects mixed into the album release during it's segment

@carrotineblast The fact that we didn't get more Mario and Peach moments is crazy!! The platforming challenge scene carried so hard (wonderful lack of dialogue between them), but I felt they needed more before then to really make the ending kiss feel earned.

@turbobist28_ To be fair, it wouldn't have saved that final battle even if it did play. It was just way too different than that of the game, somehow the game feels much more climactic in its scope than a whole movie.

@saint_squared @Mild_Entropy The fact that we never hear the super mario galaxy final boss music in the final battle is disappointing.

@jui_cyapple I also had Space Storm Galaxy in my bingo card, it would have been a great song if the climax lived up to its atmosphere.

No disrespect to Brian Tyler though. His soundtrack is the highlight of the movie. And I feel his original compositions don't get the credit they deserve. His Rosalina motif is so freaking good, it's such a shame the movie it's attached to is... That.

@saint_squared This is neither here nor there, but I wish they had more Galaxy music in the movie. Last year I had Yoshi Star and Jr's Fiery Flotilla OSTs on my bingo card as surefire inclusions for a movie with those characters debuting lol. Guess not. Woulda loved to hear Tyler's take on them

@saint_squared That's another example that I felt wasn't earned lol. Felt obligatory bc there was no Gusty Garden planet in the movie, and they had to use it somewhere besides the spaceport. But I could chalk that up to being out of Tyler's hands. Maybe it was the director/editor's choice.
