Good luck to all our marathon runners this April! 🏃‍♂️💛 This month, an incredible 348 runners are taking on marathons across the country in support of Brain Tumour Research, every step helping to fund vital research and drive us closer to a cure. We are in awe of every single one of you, and we wish we could share every story. Here are just a few of the inspiring reasons people are running this year: 🚍 Andrew’s story A London bus driver running the TCS London Marathon on the first anniversary of his mum Yvonne’s death from a glioblastoma - running in her memory and for hope for others. bit.ly/4v3lbE9 💛 Chloe’s story Running for her mum, who survived a devastating brain tumour journey that included emergency surgery, a coma and months of rehabilitation. Chloe now runs to honour her strength and to support families facing similar heartbreak. bit.ly/4uUCx5Y 🏃‍♂️ Luke’s story Running in memory of his friend Charly, who was diagnosed with a glioblastoma and passed away just weeks later. Luke is running every mile to keep her memory alive and help fund research for the future. bit.ly/416YTDQ And there are so many more stories like these, of love, loss, courage and determination. 💛 To every runner taking on a marathon this month: we are behind you every step of the way. You are making a difference. ✨ #TogetherWeWillFindACure #BrainTumourAwareness

We welcome the Government’s announcement on medicines pricing, which could accelerate patient access to innovative treatments. 💛 This shift is already having an impact, with vorasidenib, the first new treatment for adult brain tumours in over two decades, now approved for NHS use in eligible patients. While this represents important progress, continued investment in research is essential to ensure more breakthroughs reach the brain tumour community. Brain Tumour Awareness Month: Thank You for Standing With Us 💛 Throughout March, thousands of supporters came together across the UK for Brain Tumour Awareness Month, taking part in events, fundraising and campaigning to help drive urgent change for those affected by brain tumours. Every day, 35 people are diagnosed with a brain tumour, yet just 1% of national cancer research funding has been allocated to this devastating disease since records began in 2002. At Brain Tumour Research, we are determined to change that. Lighting a beacon of hope ✨ On Sunday 1st March, our community came together for #ShineALight, lighting candles and sharing messages of hope for the 1 in 3 people who knows someone affected. We were proud to see support from broadcasters Fearne Cotton and Piers Morgan, musicians Rick Astley and Joan Armatrading and sports stars including Frank Bruno MBE and our Ambassadors Tom and Vicky Chapman, Sam Reardon and Anthony Bryan. Across the UK, landmarks including Blackpool Tower, Liverpool’s Royal Liver Building, Barry Island, MacLellan’s Castle and the University of Nottingham glowed in pink and yellow for #LightupTheUK 💛💗 A powerful show of solidarity with the 100,000+ people living with a brain tumour or its long-term impact. Campaigning for change 🏛️ From Westminster to Holyrood and the Senedd, we stepped up our calls for action, pushing for increased research funding, better access to clinical trials and an end to inequalities in treatment and genomic testing. Families shared powerful stories of loss and resilience, including parents like Louise Fox, whose son George died from a Glioblastoma at just 13, highlighting the urgent need for change. Wear A Hat Day in full style 🎩 Our flagship fundraiser brought colour, creativity and community spirit, with hundreds of events held across the country. From hat-themed celebrations to inspiring tributes, your support helped raise vital funds for life-saving research. To everyone who took part, donated, lit up landmarks, shared stories or wore a hat. Thank you! Your support brings us closer to a cure. #TogetherWeWillFindACure #BrainTumourAwarenessMonth #WearAHatDay

A major step forward for brain tumour treatment! 💛 For the first time in over 20 years, a new treatment for adult brain tumours has been approved in the UK. The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) has approved vorasidenib for use on the NHS in England and Wales, offering a new option for patients aged 12+ with certain low-grade gliomas. Based on NICE’s draft guidance published today, immediate access is available to eligible patients via interim funding through the Cancer Drugs Fund. For more information, read the full guidance on NICE’s website. While this is a hugely significant milestone, there is still so much more to be done. At Brain Tumour Research, we will continue to campaign for increased investment in research and better access to innovative treatments for all patients.
