We are pleased to welcome WHO FCTC to Armenia for its first preparatory mission. Discussions focus on strategic and organizational preparations for COP12 & MOP5, which Armenia will host in 2027, while reinforcing its leadership in global health.

We also consider it necessary to emphasize that Okay Deprem has previously published multiple unsubstantiated and manipulative materials regarding the state institutions of the Republic of Armenia, none of which have been confirmed by official sources.

An article by Okay Deprem titled “The Ban on Induced Abortion Is Now Also on Armenia’s Agenda” was published on the news website Cgtnturk.com and subsequently on OdaTV. The article contains demonstrably false, unsubstantiated, and misleading assertions.

Any legislative initiative is subject to public consultation, and public awareness is ensured in advance of any proposed legal changes.

We officially state that no amendments to the current regulations on induced abortion, nor any initiative to impose a ban, are envisaged under the Law on Reproductive Health and Reproductive Rights.

The HENAR Foundation and @WHOArmenia organized a workshop on “Health & Education Reforms: A Policy Dialogue on Postgraduate Medical Education.” First Deputy Minister of Health Lena Nanushyan stressed that UHC & PHC reforms need a skilled workforce to meet quality expectations.

Armenia’s Minister of Health @AnahitAvanesyan, received H.E. Michael Mavros, Ambassador of Cyprus to Armenia. They discussed strengthening bilateral healthcare cooperation and ongoing reforms. A draft MoU between the Ministries of Health is being prepared to deepen collaboration

Minister @AnahitAvanesian met with @EUAmbArmenia to discuss healthcare reforms 🏥, with emphasis on Universal Health Coverage, digital health, visa liberalization, and proposed cooperation initiatives, including waste management ♻️.

A memorandum of understanding was signed between @WigmoreGroup and @CareForKids to advance women’s and children’s healthcare in Armenia through enhanced collaboration, continued nursing education, strengthened quality systems, and nationwide training programs.

According to the mission team, the visit was highly successful, with findings indicating that Armenia’s progress in primary health care not only aligns with but in some cases surpasses international benchmarks.

A productive meeting took place between the WHO Barcelona Office expert mission and First Deputy Minister of Health, Dr. @LNanushyan to discuss the objectives and strategic directions of the mission “Strengthening Primary Health Care Financing in Armenia.”
