Wish I was joking but… I needed to get the X-rays they took of my shoulder in the ER over to my orthopedist and they told me to come pick up a ‘floppy disk’ with the images. ER is Mt Sinai in NYC, they use Epic. Ortho is at NYU. Founders + investor, please keep investing in healthcare solutions - we need to fix this.

@Radiology_AI I’m also excited to see XR used to enhance physician-patient interaction. Imagine telemedicine where the patient and physician can interact virtually without losing the human touch and patients seeing their health and imaging data in an interactive way. #RadAIchat

@Radiology_AI I am most excited to see how AI can enhance intraoperative use of XR technology. Imagine a personal XR assistant that can guide the surgeon/interventionalists in approach, identifying landmarks, and bring up medical imaging and other clinical data for easy reference. #RadAIchat

@Radiology_AI For example, @ruppot of our MGB MXR Lab has led the development of a liver biopsy VR module to teach trainees. This becomes a safe place for trainees to make mistakes and learn from them. mgbmxr.org (see video) #RadAIchat

@Radiology_AI XR can create safe and dynamic training environments where trainees are allowed to make mistakes and learn from them. Furthermore, these environments can be created for challenging or rare scenarios that trainees otherwise may have little exposure to otherwise. #RadAIchat

@Radiology_AI Do no harm is a primary principle of any healthcare professional. So trainees are supervised to not make any mistakes during interventional radiology procedures. But how they learn how to handle unexpected situations safely? #RadAIchat

@Radiology_AI XR can transform static 2D images into dynamic 3D models, where trainees can interact with the models beyond what is physically possible. For example, one can literally poke their head through a VR/AR heart model and see how the cardiac muscles and valves function. #RadAIchat

@Radiology_AI Traditionally, students and trainees learn anatomy and radiology from static 2D images, but it can be challenging to understand the relationship between anatomic structures in this way. #RadAIchat

@Radiology_AI T3. AI can also assist interventional radiologists by accurately registering virtual or augmented anatomic models onto live patients, which may ultimately enable accurate and safe XR-guided procedures. #RadAIchat

@Radiology_AI T3. AI can also assist by automatically segmenting and labeling different tissues, organs, or lesions on images, which can greatly benefit pre-surgical planning and enhance intra-operative navigation. #RadAIchat
