I'm thrilled and beyond grateful to announce that SEIU Local 49, the voice for over 15,000 working people across our city, has officially endorsed my campaign for Mayor of Portland! SEIU’s commitment to fighting for better wages, better working conditions, and a better community for healthcare and building service workers is something I deeply respect, and together, we’ll continue building a city that prioritizes fairness, opportunity, and dignity for all workers. I have been a strong and consistent supporter of our unions during my time on council. I have converted contract positions into full-time union jobs, and saved over 100 positions by closing PBOT’s $32 million budget gap. The future is going to be built on strong union partnerships. Thank you to SEIU Local 49 for believing in my vision for Portland. Let’s get to work to create a city that works for everyone. @seiu49 #seiu #seiu49 #mayormapps #UnionStrong

Yesterday, I called Mayor-elect Keith Wilson to congratulate him on his victory. He and his team worked hard, and they have much to celebrate. I respect Keith and believe him when he says he will approach the job with humility. Keith faces a significant road ahead in implementing necessary changes to our government system while continuing to address the crisis on our streets. I will always be available to offer guidance in navigating our public works system, and I am confident that I left excellent leaders in place to safeguard the critical infrastructure work. I remain incredibly proud of my time on council and of the strength and spirit of our city. In times when the national stage feels frightening, it's more important than ever to remember the power we have right here at home. The work doesn't stop here. Portland is resilient, and together, we will continue to push for progress, support one another, and build a future where we all can prosper.

Election Day is here, Portland! Ballot drop of closes tonight at 8 p.m., so if you haven’t already, now’s the time to make your voice heard. It’s an honor to be on this journey with you, working to build a safer, more prosperous city for all of us. We’ve been out in the community, talking to folks from North Portland to Southeast, foster-Powell to St. John’s, and I couldn’t be more energized by your passion and commitment. Let’s keep that momentum going. Make a plan, check in with friends and family, and head out to vote. This change in voting can be overwhelming and intimidating, but our city is best served by when every single Portlander has their voice. Together, we have the power to shape the future of Portland. Thank you for your support, and see you at the polls! #2024Election #portland #mayormapps

My first & only Portland D3 candidate sighting in the wild—outside events—occurred today during a long, pre-Election Night run. They & their partner were on a walk & were nice enough to chat w/ me for 10 mins. Been quite a year. Local politics matter. Ballots due by 8pm!

It’s Election Day. Your voice matters.
Today, you have the power to shape the future of Portland. It’s easy to feel like one vote doesn’t make a difference, but let me tell you: it does. Especially this year. Every election is an opportunity to stand up for the values that matter to you—whether that’s, safer neighborhoods, action on climate change, or simply a brighter future for the next generation. So today, go to the polls and turn in your ballot. Take a friend, take a neighbor, and make sure every voice is heard. Together, we can make Portland an incredible place to raise a family, build a business, or live out our golden years.
Let’s do this. #Vote #ElectionDay #YourVoteMatters #GetOutTheVote #mayormapps

After all these days spent out canvassing I have a whole new respect for the members of the US Postal Service! Personally visiting 100 or 200 houses is no small task, but the conversations I’ve been having with Postal Service workers I’ve run into out on my canvassing routes say that they are visiting anywhere from 400 to 600 addresses each time they are out in our community. Rain or shine! That is absolutely incredible! Thank you all for your service to our community!

@MingusMapps4PDX Why are you retweeting Brandon Farley and touting his support and expecting people to see as anything other than a right wing sicko

With only a few days left before Election Day, I’m out in Southeast Portland talking with our neighbors about what’s at stake in this election. This morning, news cameras joined us as we hit the streets to share my vision for a safer, more equitable, and better-managed city. Thank you to everyone who’s stopping by to ask questions, share their concerns, and get involved. Your support and voices are what will make change possible for Portland. Let’s make the final days count—together, we can make a real difference. #VoteMapps #MappsForMayor #mayormapps #2024Election

I talked to KOIN about the City's looming budget cuts: koin.com/news/portland/… As Portland faces serious budget shortfalls, we will need to make some hard decisions to address these challenges head-on. Nearly 400 city jobs could be on the line, and it’s a reality that’s tough for our entire community. While these cuts won’t take immediate effect, by early next year we’ll need to make strategic changes to keep essential services strong as we move forward. On top of this, Portland’s upcoming government transition brings startup costs, adding to our need for thoughtful, proactive planning. As mayor, I’ll make it a priority to stabilize our budget while finding new ways to bring revenue into the city. Let’s work together to make sure Portland is financially sound and resilient for the future. PC: Mark Ackerman

Today, we witnessed a disturbing attack on democracy as someone attempted to set fire to two ballot drop boxes, one in Portland and another across the river in Vancouver. The FBI is now actively investigating. Attempting to disrupt voting or intimidate voters in any way is an affront to democracy at its core. Every Portlander deserves the chance to vote safely and confidently, and any act of aggression against our voting process only exposes the culprits as desperate and fearful of the public’s voice. I call on everyone, regardless of political affiliation, to loudly denounce these criminals, and stand together to protect the integrity of our elections. Democracy requires us to respect every voice, and we will never allow acts like this to shake our commitment to those values. Let’s make sure everyone knows that Portland will defend the right to vote.

Out in Argay, Wilkes, Hazelwood, and many more Northeast neighborhoods today with an incredible team of volunteers, especially reps from @PTE17, knocking on doors and connecting with neighbors about my vision for Portland. I’m so grateful for the dedication of everyone who’s out here putting in the work to move our city forward. Conversations like the ones we have been having with neighbors while out canvassing remind me of the power of community and the shared hope we all have for a better Portland. Let’s keep the momentum going! #MappsForMayor #TeamMapps #mayormapps
