It was great to meet Donna Strickland during my AMO/IQSE seminar visit to @TAMU Physics + delightful dinner conversations. Donna is one of the only five women (out of 226 laureates) to win @NobelPrize in Physics. She is a Hagler Fellow at TAMU.

Last week we concluded an excellent workshop on the next generation computational bio-imaging organized by @leilichn. Thank you for the invitation to present our work on spectral and phase imaging of X-rays to improve soft tissue contrast.

Today I will be hosting Dr. Anthony Guiseppi Elie for our BME seminar @UHBiomedEng @UHEngineering. If you are at UH or in the Houston area and interested in implantable microanalytical systems, please join us.

It was a pleasure to have Brandon Chalifoux from UArizona Wyant College of Optical Sciences visit us this week. We discussed the development of advanced X-ray Optics plus the tour of our lab including the home-built X-ray spectral and phase imaging system.

Nice read. Our group is working to dramatically improve the utility of X-ray and CT to separate similarly attenuating materials from one another in single-shot imaging. Like cancer from dense tissue or plastics from explosives. @APSphysics #XRayPhaseImaging

Very nice @EspanolMalena . We need to start something like this for Modern Physics (+ Optics/Math) areas. Older curricula in traditional programs do not get to many new and interdisciplinary topics. So many opportunities exist when trained in these areas.

After teaching and doing research as a Professor @UHouston for many years I finally applied for US citizenship only during COVID. Yesterday afternoon I was excited to cast my first vote as a citizen for a US Presidential election. #ivoted2024

End of an era @UHPhysics. Retirement party for beloved former chair Prof. Larry Pinsky. Brilliant, generous, visionary leader who started interdisciplinary research areas @UHPhysics. Both I and Prof. Koerner (pictured) were recruited during his chairmanship.

The best video I have seen on the basics of making a hologram. Pass this on to any high school or college student who might be even remotely interested in Physics/Optics.

We had @DrTayloriaAdams from UCIrvine Engineering give a really interesting seminar at BME @UHEngineering. What an important topic. Enables understanding of electric field interaction with living cells. #Physics#Bio

Dynamic fashion with movement sensing. Fusion of physics, optical effects, materials science ideas. Some designs don't seem to correlate with any movement though. Cool and intriguing.

ParticlePhysics meets Imaging @UHouston. With Prof. Lisa Koerner @UHPhysics after our Friday lunch on campus. We joined @UHouston the same year. Lucky to find a supportive colleague (despite different research areas) who also became a good friend.
