@Brooklydamus @bee_mkhwani @j_divis Not a good time to be blind. It’s a cruel thing to do. Knowing kids gonna be blind and still allow the birth is senseless pain for no reason. Sure it gives u comfort to help the helpless. But he’s here to suffer for selfish reasons. Coulda just tried again

We found out during a late ultrasound that our son was going to be born without eyes.
What I didn’t expect was for the doctor to ask if we wanted to abort him. We had just seen him in a 3D ultrasound moving around and otherwise healthy.
Holding back tears, we both told him no, we are keeping him.
He deserved to live even though he experiences life differently.
Here he is as a baby and now at age 11.

@bee_mkhwani @j_divis There’s nothing more frustrating to witness than the way sighted people treat the topic of blindness, as if it’s the worst thing in the world.
Even people with other disabilities will sometimes act as if being blind is a different level of disability…

@j_divis Some of the comments here are disappointing. He is blind, not incapable. Many blind people live independently and thrive, and he has a family who loves him. That deserves respect.
