As a woman who works on TFT, I’ve spent tonight reading things about my own community that make me want to put my fist through a wall.
Let’s be clear about what happened here. Women said they were hurt…and the response from parts of this community was to laugh, to relitigate, to demand receipts, to treat “was she uncomfortable” as an interesting debate topic. It isn’t and never was.
Women build this game. Women play this game, millions of them. Millions. And the message being sent today is that you’re welcome here right up until the moment you say something happened to you.
To the men reading this: your silence is a position. It is not neutral. It has never been neutral. Every time you let it slide in a lobby, in a Discord, in a group chat, in a reply…you encourage this behavior. It cannot keep being women’s full-time job to explain why they’d like to not be harassed.
To Emily and to every woman who spoke up and got buried for it: I see you. You told the truth even when it was hard and people were absolutely horrible. Thank you for all your courage in speaking up.
If anyone is ever at an event and something feels off, find me. Find any of us. You are not overreacting, you are not being dramatic. You have people in your corner.
