My humble take on Dawntrail Dawntrail has a pacing problem, not a character problem, but it's easier to attack the character because it's tangible. Wuk Lamat is a symptom of a weak narrative economy. She suffers from overexposure, occupying most of the filler frames that serve little to no build-up to the final act. This makes her role feel stagnant rather than developmental. The game is also not built for the role that players were supposedly given. The story wants the warrior of light to be the mentor, but the game engine is built for the action hero. This creates clash of roles, essentially failing at both. The final act wasn't introduced or seeded properly through the first two acts. Because of the weak pacing early on, the tonal shift to Act 3 felt rushed and almost like an entirely different story. The story wants to keep her relevant, using her role to bridge these disassociated acts, but she was already overexposed early on.

@MisakiVtb @MrOwlstanding Not only you have to pay for a skip for the story, you also need to pay a skip for the leveling if you wanna go right away with minimal effort 😂. To skip straight to EC is buying the base game, the expansion, the sub, the story skip and then a job skip 5 different purchases

@Merrydawg ... Can we stop gatekeeping the game? I love the story but not everyone cares. Let them play buy the skip and go enjoy what they want to enjoy. No need to tell them to find another game

Honestly, if you don't care about story, and you just want to play an MMORPG that's focused entirely around endgame, then I'm not sure Final Fantasy XIV is for you. So much of it is about the journey, rather than the destination, like how classic RPG's used to be. If you just want endgame, which is fine, I'd honestly play World of Warcraft instead, instead of trying to push Final Fantasy XIV to be like World of Warcraft. We can have different games for different people. Final Fantasy XIV is about going on a long and slow journey of exploration, meeting and befriending both story characters and other players, and becoming attached to the world and its mysteries. So many of its most impactful and awe inducing moments are exactly because of that slow journey it took you to get there. And if that's not your you, again, that's okay. But you should probably find another game.

@MrOwlstanding It's a convenience if you don't wanna play the story (which btw is amazing and a big selling point) you can pay some money. It's not a "solution" if you want to be lazy though you can do it.

@Elirilya Ich hab zum ende auch aufgehört weil es keinen Spaß mehr gemacht hat vor allem Cresent hat mich super enttäuscht und ich bin erst ende 7.4 zurückgekommen, selbst die Raid Tier hab ich halt geskippt weil ich einfach unzufrieden war und so gings einigen meiner Freunden.

@Elirilya Expansions sind halt was das angeht objektiv. Ich finde Dawntrail war definitiv das was mich am wenigstens gepackt hat. Lediglich der battle Content war super. Aber die Belohnungssysteme, Job-Balance, Cresent, Story waren sehr schwach und nervig an einigen stellen.

Während ich damals Dawntrail gespielt habe, habe ich nebenbei mitbekommen, wie viele Kontakte plötzlich von heute auf morgen aufgehört haben, Final Fantasy XIV zu spielen und seitdem nie wieder das MMORPG angefasst haben. Nur weil sie die Erweiterung bzw. die Story nicht gefesselt hat. Wenn ich darüber nachdenke, wie viel Zeit sie vorher reingesteckt haben, Mounts gefarmt, Schatzkarten, Events usw., ist das schon etwas traurig. Klar, man spielt ein Spiel nicht für immer, aber trotzdem. Dawntrail hat mich persönlich auch nicht wirklich abgeholt und gehört für mich zu den schwächeren Erweiterungen. Man kann eben nicht erwarten, dass jede Erweiterung jedem gefällt. Mal gibt es ruhigere, weniger spannende Abschnitte, dann wieder richtig starke. Das gehört einfach dazu und sorgt dafür, dass die Welt sich ständig verändert und nicht eintönig wird. Über Final Fantasy XIV bin ich zwar auch auf falsche Kontakte gestoßen, mit denen ich zum Glück nichts mehr zu tun habe und soweit ich weiß, spielen die auch nicht mehr. Aber ich habe auch richtig gute Erfahrungen gemacht und zum Beispiel @zurret so richtig kennengelernt. Mit ihm lebe ich heute zusammen und wir haben eine süße kleine Tochter. Ich glaube, das trägt auch viel dazu bei, warum Final Fantasy XIV für mich so unglaublich viel bedeutet.
