In these discouraging times, I URGE you to read Étienne de la Boétie’s “The Politics of Obedience: The Discourse of Voluntary Servitude” “Resolve to serve no more, and you are at once freed. I do not ask that you place hands upon the tyrant to topple him over, but simply that you support him no longer; then you will behold him, like a great Colossus whose pedestal has been pulled away, fall of his own weight and break into pieces.” free @mises link in first reply

War, and the threat of war, are big government's best friend," Ron Paul wrote only recently. "Liberals support big government social programs, and conservatives support big government war policies, thus satisfying two major special interest groups. And when push comes to shove, the two groups cooperate and support big government across the board — always at the expense of personal liberty. Both sides pay lip service to freedom, but neither stands against the welfare-warfare state and its promises of unlimited entitlements and endless war." In many ways, this book is a history of a quarter century of folly, told by a man who saw what others did not, and had the temerity to state his view publicly. No voice for peace has been as consistent in the demand that government stop its intervention across the board. No supporter of free markets has been so determined to apply the logic of liberty to all aspects of foreign policy. Get it here at the Mises Bookstore: store.mises.org/Foreign-Policy…

In honor of Rothbard and all that he did to revitalize Austrian economics and the cause of liberty, the Mises Institute is proud to launch the Year of Rothbard to celebrate his 100th birthday. To commemorate the Year of Rothbard, the Mises Institute will release our new book, Murray N. Rothbard: The Making of an Austrian Economist, this summer. This book has been several years in the making and the result is an intellectual biography of Rothbard, chronicling his remarkable development as an economist from his student days at Columbia University through the writing of his magnum opus, Man, Economy, and State. Our book brings alive the story of how Rothbard, who started out as a talented mainstream graduate student at Columbia University, discovered Ludwig von Mises and became one of the most important Austrian economists of the twentieth century. Based on original sources and extensive archival research, we describe Rothbard’s intellectual transformation, his interactions with noted thinkers like Mises, Milton Friedman, and Arthur Burns, and how he deduced the brilliant economic edifice laid out in Man, Economy, and State. Rothbard’s treatise was, as Mises put it, an “epochal contribution to the general science of human action.” It has taught uncountable numbers the science of economics, the importance of the free market, and the baleful consequences of government intervention. This is why we felt compelled to tell the story of how Rothbard came to write this brilliant book: We hope that our book will inspire people to pursue the economic way of thinking as Man, Economy, and State did, and as it has inspired both of our careers. Why is this book needed? It is not just because Rothbard deserves a first-rate biography that celebrates his life and his most important contributions. It is about arming students, laymen, influencers, and scholars to be able to understand the simplicity of Austrian economics and what makes it so eye opening and different from mainstream economics. One hundred years ago, on March 2, Murray Rothbard, one of the most important Austrian economists was born. His impact cannot be overstated, and his contributions to economics stand next to those of Carl Menger, Ludwig von Mises, and F.A. Hayek. Please consider donating to support the publication of our book. Any amount will make a difference! Those who generously give $1,000 or more before March 30 will be listed in the book as Patrons and receive an autographed copy. They will also be listed as event sponsors for Rothbard University. Donors who give $50 or more will receive the audiobook version our new book: mises.org/supportRU?utm_…

@whatA_hypocrite @TuckerCarlson @ComicDaveSmith The Betrayal of the American Right by Murray Rothbard and Reclaiming the American Right by Justin Raimondo are phenomenal works of intellectual history on the American Right. I’d add Pat Buchanan's Where the Right Went Wrong to make it a trilogy.

Counting his contributions in economics, history, political philosophy, strategy, and even cultural commentary, he left this world so many incredible insights. One could spend years reading his work and still not complete it all. What truly separated Murray from so many of his peers was his dedication to turning his ideas into action. It is that dedication that has always been at the core of the Mises Institute’s mission, and because of the generosity of our donors, Murray’s works are accessible to more people than ever before, in a variety of formats, and in many translations.

This collection brings together four major works from the champions of the Austrian tradition. Together, these books reaffirm what interventionists deny: economic law cannot be repealed, prosperity cannot be printed, and liberty is the indispensable condition of social order and human flourishing.
