This is upsetting. It’s such a gratuitous historic act of national vandalism and self-harm.

I want to stress British Jews are super concentrated in NW London. there are only 250k of us. Roughly around 100k of us live in this area and surrounding areas. It’s like a small town that’s now under sustained attack. This is the heart of the community and every connected Jew across the country will ties, friends, family here. It’s not felt like disjointed and episodic attacks but like small town the size of Worcester is under attack by an IRGC-cut out.

It’s all too clear that a country in which Jews are attacked on the streets simply because they are Jewish, synagogues need to employ security, & anti-Semitic slogans & images are paraded through city centres or exhibited in art galleries is exactly what we’ve become.

Here come the cliches….. ‘This is not who we are as country’ ‘this has no place in british society’ and the rest…. Aptly done @JewishNewsUK

Following the antisemitic stabbing of two Jewish people on the streets of Golders Green this morning, words of condemnation are no longer sufficient. This must be a moment that demands meaningful action from every institution, every community, every leader, and every decent person in our country. This is a hatred that we must face down together.

One minute the Foreign Office is at the Iranian embassy, celebrating the anniversary of the Islamic revolution, the next they tell us women and girls are at the heart of foreign policy.
You must think we are fools.
Ambassador James Kariuki@JamesKariuki_UN
The UK has put women and girls at the heart of our foreign policy. Honoured to welcome Minister @Jacqui_Smith1, Minister @AlexDaviesJones & Special Envoy @HarrietHarman to CSW, and thank civil society for their work to advance the rights of women and girls and access to justice.

In the spring of 1980, Farrokhroo Parsa — Iran’s Minister of Education before the Islamic Revolution — was executed. She had devoted her life to fighting for women’s rights and did not betray her principles even after the victory of the Islamic Revolution. In the verdict issued by the new authorities, she was found guilty of “spreading corruption on earth and denying Allah.”
“I would rather face death with open arms than live in disgrace, forcibly covered with a veil. I will not kneel before those who expect me to repent for half a century of my struggle for equality between men and women. I am not prepared to wear the chador and take a step backward in history,” Parsa wrote in her farewell letter to her children.
