I’ve been keeping a secret (badly)..

45 years ago today Bobby Sands began his hunger strike in Long Kesh. 66 days later he was dead. Nine comrades followed him. Ten bodies, ten refusals. The British state said political prisoners don't exist, the Irish said watch us die proving you wrong. Britain didn't break them, Britain killed them. 2025 brought Palestine Action prisoners, the Filton 24 and Brize Norton 5, onto hunger strike. Prisoners for Palestine documented force-feeding through nasal tubes, solitary confinement, threats of deportation, denial of legal visits, and prison censorship. They were held on remand without trial for over a year for dismantling Elbit Systems' Filton weapons factory, for spray-painting RAF aircraft supplying genocide. Eight prisoners refused food starting 2nd November 2025, Balfour Day. Some struck for 73 days. Britain learned nothing, learned nothing, learned nothing. Same methods, different prisoners: Irish, Palestinian, British Activists. The empire's toolkit remains isolate, dehumanise, wait for surrender or death. Long Kesh to British prisons, Belfast to Gaza, partition to apartheid. The British drew the border through Ireland and imposed partition in Palestine, the same colonial logic, same borders cutting through bodies. We stand in full solidarity with our comrades in the Communist Party of Ireland who lead the struggle for Irish reunification and an end to British occupation in the Six Counties. The national question and Palestinian liberation are inseparable fights against imperialism. Sands wrote: "I am a political prisoner because I am a casualty of a perennial war that is being fought between the oppressed Irish people and an alien, oppressive, unwanted regime that refuses to withdraw from our land." Ten dead in Long Kesh proved the point. Palestine Action prisoners survived their strikes, but some were only granted bail this February after 18 months imprisoned without conviction. Trump has proved once again with his latest bellicose statements that he represents the same corporate war interests as his predecessors the Bushes, Obama and Biden. US imperialism and its colonial outpost in Israel is the greatest threat to world peace in the world today. So far, the UK government has not officially taken part in the latest US military adventure. The Communist Party calls for British ministers to make clear that this is a conflict precipitated by Israel and prepared by the Pentagon with no justification in law. The Communist Party demands no UK military support for the US premediated attack on Iran. The UK military base at Akrotiri in Cyprus must not be used to fuel, service, or supply US military aircraft engaged in this illegal act of imperialist aggression. We call on all those who support peace and oppose imperialist war to attend the emergency protest called by the Stop the War on Iran coalition today (Saturday 28 February 2026) from 3pm at Downing Street, London SW1. 28 February 2026 END.
