One of the biggest things I’ve noticed since I left teaching is how Sunday scaries pretty much disappear

@mrlockyer Hoping to move back into what I originally trained in- events . Definitely going for a job I can leave at work and find a mental balance

So it’s been weeks since I’ve been in the classroom (signed off with PTSD and depression) and I know I’m leaving teaching (for now) at the end of this year BUT there’s still 8 weeks left and idk how to get though it (I’ll have to go back bc finances).. advice/encouragement pls?

I’ve been off work all week and I’ve felt so guilty and missed my kids so much, heartwarming to go on DoJo and see a few messages like this to really cheer me up

@DeputyGrocott Yes! Did this on dance show days for the energy…

Does anyone else like eating jelly ‘raw’? By raw, I mean straight out of the packet. If it’s a resounding ‘no’ then neither do I 😂

Finding out my landlord is increasing rent AGAIN… This time last year we were paying £695, September it was £825 and now he’s trying for £850 in February:):):):):) Merry Christmas

@CoeusEducator Because we’re swapping one of the tenants I’m sure they’re using the whole “it’s a new tenancy” thing otherwise they wouldn’t be allowed :(

@MrHopkinTeach My deputy even came to observe me because I asked for help but the class were so different with her in the room it didn’t feel like an accurate representation of the daily struggles I have with them

@MrHopkinTeach They’ve been absolutely great at being an ear to vent to, letting me observe them and suggesting strategies - it just seems like nothing I do is working but it does with the class for other teachers - starting to think it’s me as the common denominator

It’s been over 4 weeks and my class still don’t listen to me at all, don’t follow instructions and don’t see me as someone they should respect 😭😭 every day is getting harder even though I’m trying my absolute best :(:(

Started as an ECT this week. It’s been tough and a challenge. although the team have supported me SO much, what had the most impact was - deputy walked in my room and noticed it was a tough time. She returned with a cuppa 5 mins later - HT came to see me each day to check in

Hi everyone. Question about pay As an ECT with a contract start date of September 1st - when will I receive my first pay? Will it be the end of September or later? Thank you!! @MrTs_NQTs @DeputyGrocott

Year 4 tips please! Was told in April I’d be in year 5 for my ECT years but phonecall today changed that to year 4.. had placements in year 6 and 2 so would appreciate any advice thanks!!! @MrTs_NQTs

@charlotteosul I got “it’s a bit late to be finishing school isn’t it” when i causally mentioned I was on my way home for the day at the nail salon

On a school trip and I got asked by the tour guide if I was year 10 or 12 🙃

@MissGripton Check out school’s maths scheme. Consider your Topic for Autumn 22 bearing in mind school’s ideas. Eg WW2, Space etc. I was given access to details of my new class incl photos so when I met them on transition day, I felt like I knew some of them. Ask for SEN plans if available.

Now that I’ve secured a job (year 5, 1 form entry) for September as an ECT how can I begin to prepare over this last term? Anything I should be gathering, creating or planning so I’m better prepared?
