Students worked hard today to create gingerbread houses! They collaborated on their steps using sequencing, created a design and brought it to life! I love watching their creativity grow @shcsparis

Grinch day! We started the day with a reading from the Grinch himself! We compared the book to the movie, wrote about what we would gift the grinch, created our own grinch trees and made grinch self portraits. Our hearts also grew 3 times bigger today 💚 @shcsparis

We love measuring in grade 1/2! We have our very own version of the property brothers in our class, measuring walls and furniture all in the room! Measurement math centres are in full force 📏📐@shcsparis

Our Advent Calendar activity of the day was decorating our Christmas Tree 🎄 students used symbols for Advent to create ornaments for our tree. We prepared by writing out the steps to decorate a Christmas tree in detail. @shcsparis

Today’s advent calendar activity was planting magic candy cane seeds our elf left us to grow a candy cane garden! We talked about growing a regular plant and everything it needs while comparing it to our candy cane garden. I can’t wait to see what grows next week! @shcsparis

Pumpkin day in grade 1/2 was a success!! We started the day by picking our pumpkins at our peace park. We talked about the cycle of a pumpkin, counted pumpkin seeds in groups of 10, conducted floating experiments, made pumpkin play dough and pumpkin pie in a cup! @shcsparis

What artists we have in grade 1/2! They enjoy making each others day by drawing portraits for one another. Look at those smiles! @shcsparis

Such a fun day at Snyders Farm! Grade 1/2 loved all of the activities they had to offer. We learned so much about corn, animals and practiced patience. @shcsparis

Miss Kay’s grade 1/2 class was so excited to learn they have adopted a cow. They met Julia the farmer and are looking forward to learning more about the animals and work on the farm.

Learning about patterns in grade 1/2! Students explored different kinds of patterns in pairs, sharing what they know on whiteboards @shcsparis

What a great first day in grade 1/2! We started the day talking about our first day jitters and making a bar graph. We completed team building activities trying to save “fred” the gummy worm. And we learned about positive words of affirmation! @shcsparis

Campers got right to work in this first week with a focus on literacy skills & social-emotional development. Campers also enjoyed theme days and saw visits from the Fire Department! Thank you BHNCDSB Camp Staff and FOY Coop students for planning a great week for students!

Staff surprised students at the year-end assembly! Mrs. Andree announced that it was an emergency situation and the staff needed to record a video submission immediately for the “Dance Contest” they were entering. Despite “not being ready”, staff complied 😉 #forthekids #spirit

Earlier today, staff participated in a reflection activity that had them focusing on how we can make OLOP even more awesome for 2025-2026. Stay tuned for more great things to come!
