I love this idea of using paint swatches as a visual to guide the conversation of synonyms and what they are! I found this idea on Pinterest and I will definitely be implementing it into my future literacy lessons. @PJLanguageArts

I've also had the wonderful opportunity to volunteer through the ChildCan program. Each week I tutor my student or help them complete their homework. I am able to develop my own lesson plans pertaining to their needs and it has overall been a rewarding experience! @PJLanguageArts

Tutoring through ChildCan has been such a great experience! I’ve been meeting with my student weekly for a few months to work on reading and math. If you’re looking to volunteer your time, I highly recommend contacting ChildCan and being connected with a student! @PJLanguageArts

I love this cross-curricular activity for younger students. This is a great way for not only the child to learn about their personal identity but also for the teacher to learn more about their students and their interests! @PJLanguageArts

We finally finished our latest art project…our Identity Inquiry! The paper, photos and answers are unique to each child! They turned out amazing! 🤍🤍🤍

My education group and I used the book, 'Pete the Cat, Pete's Big Lunch' by James Dean as a resource when developing a lesson plan for ESL students. The book is included in a series and they all use simple words to tell a fun story! @PJLanguageArts

Chooseday Tuesday! I love this concept. Allowing students to create their own affirmations for the school day and work on personal goals. What do you choose today? @PJLanguageArts
Teacher2Teacher@teacher2teacher

"I choose to be determined." "I choose to make friends." "I choose to stand out." With just a Post-it and a prompt, Ss practice setting goals and creating affirmations! ❤️️✨ (Via educator @SELebrateYOU on Instagram) instagram.com/p/CoFMZ-_uxui/ #SEL

Alphabet roads help students with their letter recognition while also incorporating play in a fun, engaging way! They are a great tool to work on fine motor skills. I suggest printing out the letters of a students name and they can learn each letter one at a time. @PJLanguageArts

During placement I also encountered fun, creative ways to practice letter formation. One literacy centre used “cloud writing” where we used shaving cream on a baking sheet to practice tracing letters. The students loved the hands on aspect of the activity! @PJLanguageArts

A creative way for students to practice letter formation, while also working with their fine motor skills, is using wax sticks to form letters, words, numbers, etc. This activity is great for a literacy centres or extra work! @PJLanguageArts

Some of our JK students use the pencils with a ball attached to enhance their grip and fine motor skills. One of the many great tools we have in the classroom! ✏️📝@PJLanguageArts

I’m JK/SK we are learning about our emotions, what they feel like, and what they mean! After reading ‘The Colour Monster’, we created our own class colour monster to show how we are feeling using colours used in the book. @PJLanguageArts

In JK/SK we are learning about shapes! Here are some poems we’ve been using to introduce our shapes, their sides, and corners! The students love them! @PJLanguageArts

Each morning in our JK/SK class, students practice tracing and writing their name. Some of our SK students don’t need to trace and write the letters of their name in the boxes pictured top left! @PJLanguageArts

For my placement, I am in a JK/SK classroom and the students have been loving using play dough to make the “letter of the week”! It allows the students to practice making their upper and lower case letters with hands-on play! Here is an example. @PJLanguageArts
