Temporarily back to say that my partner and i have managed to remove follower/following counts and likes/comments/retweets/bookmarks. I realized that starting before, and lasting through the donothon, i got so obsessed with numbers that it became almost toxic, and it's not the kind of person i want to be. I'm still on my hiatus, but setting this small change up should make my interaction here more natural and less algorithm driven. I've become borderline obsessed with bigger and bigger numbers, and i have a feeling that that's what social media pushes. Appeasing the algorithm to push for more and more growth that... you don't need. Some people can handle it and not be bothered, but the more i've wanted this to become a career, the more i've felt like i'm failing if i don't live up to certain expectations that i've set in my head. So. I'm ending it. Right here, right now. To be a healthier person today than i was even yesterday. And every day healthier still ❤️ Starting from my return (whenever that happens), there's going to be no more post stream statistics, no goal pushes for followers or subscribers (i've turned both off in my twitch panel), and i'm hiring a manager to allow me to focus more on content creation than on data analysis, since all of those goals and what works/doesn't can be handled in a weekly meeting. Not driven by impulse on a day to day basis. I'm taking steps to acknowledge where i've become the kind of creator that i often talk about how i don't like, and to rectify them so that they don't happen again. Even if some of you never saw this side of me? It's not something i want anyone to see in me again. I want to do right by my community, and be a force for positivity, not vanity and numbers. Thank you.
