@MorganSandy14 Yes unfortunately it is very close to home. It’s important to introduce relevant and relatable material when exploring such an issue!

What a devastating impact pollution has had on such a beautiful Australian site. Educating our students on their impact on the environment is such an important step to take in preventing further devastation in our world. Encourage your students to take #responsibility #SDG14

Australia's Great Barrier Reef will likely disappear because of climate change, according to @Science_Academy. Just 1.5°C of warming (on track for 2025 at current emission levels) would threaten 70-90% of coral reefs globally. At 2°C of warming, just 1% of reefs survive.

In ES1 we will be creating and starring in a #movie! SAVE OUR OCEANS! - The Movie. Students will share ways they have learnt to prevent marine pollution through our #SDG14 life below water unit. Look our our posters with QR codes around town soon... 👀

To promote SAVE OUR OCEANS - The Movie, ES1 will create posters such as this including a QR code that will take you to the movie! These will be displayed at surf lifesaving clubs, supermarkets, beaches, marinas and anywhere that will encourage the community to get involved #SDG14

This pedagogy of De Bono's thinking hats is such an important mindset to have when teaching young people. Everyone learns differently and having different approaches of teaching ensures all students gain a deep understanding of the content #SDG14
Sheldon Rose@MrRoseTweets

A great display of De Bono's thinking hats. Such pedgagogy can be key to utilising a #projectbasedlearning approach where students can consider all key aspects of our #EDUC4750 unit. This works with class discussions targeted to the #sdg goals. #UoNTeach

Thanks for sharing. Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs is a great visual way that displays how we get to self-actualisation. How can we expect our students to engage the world and become global citizens if their own needs aren't being met? #SDG3 #uonteach #healthandwellness
Nicole Davis@NicoleD58337587

This is so true. I would use Maslow’s Hierarchy to teach this for #SDG3. This will assist students learning about what humans needs are starting from physiological needs (food, water, shelter) to eventually achieving self-actualisation. So simple but so important. #Educ4750

@LaurenG68654208 I really enjoyed reading the link you've attached. I think it will be very beneficial to actually prevent mental health from the beginning instead of trying to treat it after the fact. Both are equally important but hopefully we as teachers can PREVENT

The 'Friends for Life' program is run by health professionals whose aim is to train teachers on how they can prevent anxiety in students. Parents reported that they saw improvements in their child's wellbeing after the teacher had taken part in the program.friendsresilience.org/friendsforlife

@LaurenG68654208 I love this idea! It's so important to incorporate technology into our lessons. Eat-And-Move-O-Matic is a great one my students love! It gives them the opportunity to move while also learning about health!

In order to give students the skills they need to succeed in the 21st century world, I will be utilising applications that relate to #sdg3 including 'That Sugar App', 'Smiling Minds', 'Smash your Food' and 'Calm for Kids'. What apps have worked in your classroom? #uonteach #ICT

@LaurenG68654208 My class loves #kahoot! We haven't used Virtual Reality yet however I am sure it would be an engaging resource also. Have you heard of ClassCraft? It's a platform that encourages students to work together as they build academic and social skills

Engaging/motivating students is an important part of inquiry based learning. That's why I often use engaging technology including Kahoot, Virtual Reality and Prezi. What type of technology works for you? #UoNTeach #technology #Educ4750 #21stcentury
Katie Polmear EDUC4750 #UoNTeach@KatieUoNteach

As our students are 21st century learners, we must become 21st century teachers! Inquiry education can be enhanced through many forms of technology. How do you use technology to facilitate your students learning? #UonTeach #EDUC4750

@JorjaBailey3 Wow! How scary is that. Although we as a society has grown so much over the past 100 years with the development and creation of technology and transportation, it also has a terrible impact on our beautiful earth! If only we knew! Walking or riding to school could be a start!

Transport is Australia's third largest source of greenhouse gas emissions (17% of total emissions). Transport emissions have grown more than any other sector, increasing nearly 60% since 1990. What could we do as a community/class to help lower these stats? #Educ4750

Wow! How insane are those figures! My class has been investigating greenhouse gases and fossil fuels the past month. They believe walking, riding or catching the bus to school will slowly but surely decrease the emissions. How else?? ☁️ #SDG13 #UoNTeach #EDUC4750 @TransportnswR

What a great idea! My class will be doing the same when researching and discussing #climatechange. It gives each student/group a specific role to carry out their research alongside. It's a great way to encourage leadership, engagement and collaboration #SDG13 #EDUC4750 #UonTeach

This is the first view of the “Plastics Money Solar Shopping Cart” run purely on solar power where you can buy eco-friendly products & school stationary items by bringing single use plastics waste from home instead of real money. Just completed half today.
