I’d argue that any school who can only succeed by excluding subsets of populations of students (special ed, emergent bilinguals, etc) are not competing with public schools at all. We’re blowing them out of the water currently because we serve every student.

The school choice crowd always brings up “competition” as a benefit of school vouchers. If public schools were not handcuffed by the STAAR test, mandated curriculum, and chronic underfunding, there would be no competition. Public schools would blow private out of the water.
