It is becoming harder & harder to report on Israel’s war on Lebanon when your timeline starts to feel less like news coverage & more like a daily obituary for your own people. Children. Women. Fathers. Entire families. Medics. Obliterated villages & towns. The killings are relentless. You finish writing about one Israeli strike, only for another name, another face, another small coffin to appear minutes later. At some point, the weight of constantly documenting this grief begins to bury parts of you with it. 🥀

Why am I not surprised? Why isn´t any woman surprised by this? Medical misogyny is alive and well- unlike many women who are or were treated like this by doctors whose oath proclaims that they should " do no harm".

So grateful Lebanese paramedics are wearing body cams. They are documenting, in real time, the war crimes they endure. When my wife and I lost our son Rakan in an Israeli airstrike, it was not the first child we had lost… Before him, we had already lost our daughter Lamar during childbirth because of a medical mistake, and that shock became the beginning of a pain that has never truly ended. Losing Rakan was devastating for us. At first, my wife could not believe he was gone. She would wake up terrified, asking me, “Where is Rakan?” then leave the tent searching for him among the people as if he were still there. Since then, she has suffered from recurring seizures, temporary memory loss, and severe psychological trauma that has affected her entire life. My wife speaks English fluently and holds a bachelor’s degree in English language studies. She used to teach English to students, but the injury, displacement, and trauma we have lived through have taken away her ability to continue her work and live a normal life. Today, she is pregnant, and we are waiting for a new baby, but this period is extremely sensitive for our family. She needs continuous medical care, medication for seizures and anemia, and constant follow-up because of the chronic fear of loss that has haunted us for years. That is why this time is very important for our family. Anyone who can stand beside us whether through a donation, emotional support, or simply sharing our story — may help us get through this difficult stage amid the harsh conditions we are living in here in Gaza. Schüler protestieren gegen Wehrpflicht und der BR spricht von „Verfassungsfeinden“ „Wir waren 18 Jahre und begannen die Welt und das Dasein zu lieben; wir mussten darauf schießen. Die erste Granate, die einschlug, traf unser Herz.“ Diese berühmte Zitat aus Erich Remarques Antikriegsroman „Im Westen nichts Neues“ sollte der gesamten Gesellschaft eine Warnung sein. Ob der Bayerische Rundfunk das Zitat oder überhaupt das Werk Remarques kennt, ist unklar. Als am Freitag Schüler gegen Wehrpflicht und Kriegstüchtigkeit demonstriert haben, hat der BR unter der Überschrift “Schulstreik gegen Wehrpflicht”: Verfassungsfeinde mobilisieren „berichtet“. In Anbetracht wie ernst die Lage ist, ist die Schlagzeile schlicht eine Sauerei. Die Schüler haben ein elementar wichtiges Anliegen, das ihr Leben betrifft – der BR diskreditiert mit dieser „Berichterstattung“ den Protest der Schülern.
