Such a sweet memory to keep with me as I end my student teaching at Butler Lab 55 😊 A special group of students who taught me so much. Onto the next chapter! 👩‍🎓

Last day of student teaching here in 1st grade! I am so beyond lucky to have been with these sweet kids this semester. I will miss them so much! 🥹❤️

Field Trip! Today first grade went to @eaglecreekpark to learn all about wildlife. We were able to touch tadpoles and turtles. My favorite animal we saw was the fairy shrimp!

This week we have been learning about recipes! These students read a “fudgy waffle brownies” recipe from a cookbook and learned about units of measurement as they baked. They did a great job collaborating to make some treats from themselves and delivered some around the school!

It’s been a busy week at @CrookedCreek_! Students have been working hard before the count down to spring break begins next week. I’m so proud of the effort I’ve seen from these students!

“Can we do a project and make our own volcanoes?” Yes!! These students were inspired after reading about Icelandic volcanoes to create their own. They asked deep, thoughtful questions like “What would people do if volcanoes killed all the plants?” and “Why do volcanoes explode?”

Educators need to understand pedagogy AND policy. Today @ButlerCOE senior student teachers are learning about the impact of policy on schools at the Indiana State Board of Education meeting.

It has been an exciting first month of the new year @CrookedCreek_ in my new student teaching placement! I am so grateful for the educators I’ve met and the incredible students who work so hard everyday. Their joy, hugs and smiles always make my day!

Just like that! My first student teaching placement with @hollarforfirst is a wrap! This was one of the hardest days of my life. Words cannot describe the amount of gratitude & love that have filled me today. These students will forever be a part of me and have made me who I am.

Introducing Dr. Erin @BUgarriott! Dr. Garriott is a FIR w/@butleru & recently graduated from @univofdayton, earning her Doctorate in Organizational Leadership w/a focus on Diversity & Inclusion. Special thanks to COE prof. Dr. @FritzEttl, who served on her dissertation committee.

Today we continued learning about the upcoming holiday of Kwanzaa. We engaged in a couple of activities in alliance with the value of “umoja” (unity). We made a paper chain of all of our names and tried to work through a human knot. Happy Kwanzaa to all those who celebrate!
