A bit of preparation for teaching teen numbers to my prac kindy class as we have a lot of students who are struggling to identify most numbers between 10-20. We'll also be using playdough and 10 frames with counters for some hands on learning. #acuedu_p

A simple introduction to time for kindy. We discussed the different activities that we do at different times of the day and then students drew the activities to match the times (eg. Getting dressed in the morning and eating dinner at night). #acuedu_p

Positive Power Rangers! Each week students pick a paddle-pop stick. Their mission is to do something nice for the person they receive! Great way to get students completing acts of kindness towards one another, creating a positive and inclusive classroom! @ACUedu_p

In maths today students in KM helped Miss Mangion hang out the shirts on the line by ordering our numbers from 1-20! 👚 #ACUedu_p

Loving the artworks created by the Kindy students from my prac. We used the book 'The Artist who Painted a Blue Horse' by Eric Carle as inspiration. Students had to draw an animal, paint it in a 'crazy' colour and add texture by scraping the paint with a plastic fork. #acuedu_p

We have these posters up on the wall in my kindy prac class. I can use it when students are getting distracted/fiddling during explicit teaching by asking students to show me five OR by pointing out students who are showing five. #acuedu_p

Here are some great ideas for teaching sight words. My son has recently been struggling with the word 'said' as it doesn't make sense to him that 'ai' makes an 'e' sound. I will definitely have to try these with him and also on my placement. kindergartenworks.com/kindergarten-t…

A simple but effective initial sounds activity that I used for a literacy rotation station. We focused only on the letters the students have learnt so far. One student picked out the petals and was the caller, whilst the others had to try to complete their flower. @acuedu_p

Had a great first day of prac! The school celebrated Harmony Day (early) and this beautiful book was read to the students. When asked what some differences/similarities they noticed on the front cover, not one child ever mentioned the skin colour ❤️
