i think you've just never tried to learn a language and don't understand how the learning process works. you won't be able to hold conversations in a learned language unless you are engaged in the environment of that language. reading and speaking are 2 entirely different things

My experience with "JOP"s is for all the elitism, so often their only skill is reading VNs w/ a texthooker and Yomichan, while lacking any practical Japanese skill. I found many unable to hold a conversation or keep up with the spoken word despite constant bragging about their N1
